New BMW M7 and 435i.
A-ha I got your attention, right?
It's actually the Alpina B7. Why do they call it Alpina B7? Mercedes is consistent with AMG nomenclature ... why is BMW confusing us? I think they should have called it the M7. Talking about nomenclature, I insist the 335i coupe should have been 435i. It's a different car (different body style, and different face). Yes, it's the same engine, but look at the 5 and 6 series. Again, lack of consistency. Anyway, just my 2 cents. |

alpina has always called their cars B-something. Alpina != BMW M

the alpina b7 is called that becaused its made by alpina and follows their nomenclature, about the 435, it has been discussed and people know the 3 by the name changing the name would reduce sales (i read that somewhere)

The Alpina B7 is made by a third party tuner, Alpina... they've been doing crazy cars for decades, us US folk just haven't been able to get at it. I got a ride in the new B7... AMAZING.
And BMW originally said all 2-doors would have been even-numbered series. Example is the Z4. Only problem was there was too much history in the M3, and the 3er is thier bread and butter. Agreeably, they didn't mess with it

Differences: While BMW M cars are typified by a high-revving engine connected to a manual or sequential-manual gearbox, Alpina BMWs are more subtle — rich in low-end torque and with an automatic transmission.

It won't sell at all in Asia if it were called the 4 series. Think about the 430s of Mercedes. They don't even bother bringing the S430s over to Hong Kong.
In Chinese, 3, 6, 8, and 9 are the lucky numbers. We Asians are so superstitious.
