You have to code them out. Check the coding section of the forum.

But also... why? I always wished I had those on my car, so cool

They give your clean car water stains all over the hood.
You can also unplug the line to it and pinch and zip tie.
Coding is better

They sometimes turn on for me and sometimes don't. Do they recognize if you use your washer fluid twice or three times close together that it doesn't trigger the headlight washers? I too get annoyed when I just want to clean my window and then it gets all over my nice clean hood from the headlight nozzles.

I wasn't sure if there was a way to pull the stalk that makes them turn on or not turn on? (There should be a separate button or setting).

You could always "burst" the washer fluid. I pull and let go quickly to have it spray but not automatically wipe. I do that a few times to get enough fluid on and then i use the single wipe (mist) setting a couple of times, and done. lol

The headlight washers only turn on when your headlights are on, and have not been used for a while (dunno how long) It's useful in the winter after all the kickup from cars in front.

+1... I find myself using the windshield washers at night or sunset, but would still like to have the feature just for the cool factor .

You'd think that with all the over-engineering BMW does, it'd be a nice thing to have.

Never understood it anyway, washer fluid on headlight won,t clean them without a wiper like the Benz used to have back in the days lol

And if they break (winter freeze) you can loose ALL your fluid

It happened on my e46. I pulled the pump and sealed the hoses :thump:

Then again, wipers were in the age of parabolic glass lenses with little shapes and dimples that further tweaked the lighting to have it focused on the road, so any blemishes/scratches caused by the wipers can be masked, not the freeform/projector lights with polycarbonate lenses today which may scratch the lens given half the chance with nothing to blend into, especially since we like our lenses nice and shiny+clear. The sprayers are around for blasting ice/dirt off the lights, which does its job adequately without wipers anyway; if anything, wipers probably smudge it.
