Exhaust Woes,

Has anyone had an exhaust issue where when the car is revved there seems to be a slight over-run for a second or two with kind of "burble" sound.?

It sounds like the exhaust is blowing. Ive had exhaust issues on other cars in the past but not where there's over-run and the exhaust makes a funny noise.

The car is a E90 320i Auto 2006.

Any help appreciated.

Gaz

Strange on a diesel, if you could describe it on a bit more detail it might help bit.

I'll paint a picture that's in my mind by saying there're is more to this than a straight forward exhaust issue as to over run would suggest something is going on to me further upstream, if the cars a light user I'd be looking for clues re have we got good readings re exhaust back pressure(if the cars CAT/DPF is partially blocked or worse still gone past the force re fen stage odd peculiar things can happen we've seen em all) we of course don't know the issue, could be all manor of things but diesels of used lightly or you use say cheap(supermarket fuel) can provide issues we can check for poor fuel quality burn figure as well to bake up hunches as the ECU stores this data too.

We would on the car was in front of us drive it with you first to get an understanding and feel how the car drives then run a diagnostic to look at the values we'd also check smooth running and the figures on the CAT(we know where these should be)if there's a discrepancy then it's on to the ramp and we'd take a temp reading from the front of the CAT to the rear(which is difficult considering the space on the primary)if there's a drop off re temp variation then we could be looking at forced re gen(depending on the figure seen) and if this doesn't cure it then if we're looking at the primary CAT/DPF then due to MOT rules we can't just opt for a DeCAT pipe as it's now to obvious but a new CAT/DPF is eye watering re funds we can get it professionally cut CAT removed and very carefully re welded and re mapped to suit to avoid these issues taking place(and the smoke issues isn't a problem as the re map assists re creating a less emitting exhaust (and we've done a couple to back than claim to on MOT)

If you're stick and this dues sound intriguing as your in LondonI'm in Hertfordshire give me a call to book it in details of where I work are here wee .a1bnsecialist.co.uk/

Thanks for the reply mate.

The car is a petrol not a diesel.

It's really difficult to explain the way its acting. I don't really notice it when im driving but when the car is parked up if you rev then let off the throttle you get like a really light "cough" then a second or two of over-run.

I would try and get a clip of how it sounds but I dont have anyone here to do the filming whilst its being revved.
