Seat belt broken :(

Well - two weeks without a fault! - thought it was too good to be true

Pulled out the seat belt tonight after work and it has jammed!- Won't pull out anymore (another few inches an I could at least clip it in!) and also won't retract back!

Called the dealer who advised to call BMW assist as the car is neither safe nor legal to drive.

Got home and called assist. Offered a 'tech' between 60-120mins. Then 5 mins later they called back and said 'assistance' would be there within the hour. Ten mins later got a call from my local greasemonkey vehicle recovery firm to ask where I lived cos the sat-nav could not find me - I asked if he was coming to repair or recover the car? He did not even know what fault he was coming out to 'fiix'. He arrived 1/2 later - declined to do anything, saying he dare not take the seat apart (seat belt comes out of the seat in the 'vert) and nothin he can do!

Call back BMW assist and they suggest a tech come out in the morning to try and repair it!!

Anyone else had any seat belt trouble??

FOOKIN ELL MATE, i do feel so sorry for you, so much trouble.. I dont think this is a BMW problem but literally a belt problem which has stumbled itself accross you after all the shit you have been thru. Not good.

Hope the techy can sort it for you ASAP tomorrow!

Yeah, really sorry to hear of yet another problem with your car. I would guess its a simple fix (spring or summat like that)...

Hope you get it sorted quickly.

Cold comfort Paul, but sorry your having more problems. I've had an intermittent fault with the passenger seatbelt on mine in that the arm does not 'take hold' of the belt to hand it over. It seems to self rectify though. Nothing like your problem I'm afraid.

I know someone with an E93, so I'll see if I can contact them & ask.

Helen.

Very occasionally my seatbelt doesn't sit properly (a bit twisted and not in the right place) and the arm doesn't grab it and push it foward... First time it did this I immediately thought the thing was broken!

Never happened on my side Gordon. Only does it occassionally to passengers. Think the moral is.....no passengers allowed

.....well in the end they did not send a tech

They rand me at 7:30am saying a tech was on his way and would be there at approx 9am - they even gave me his name.

I drove it to the office but had to pop out at 8:30 for 10mins - left the key with my engineer and then arrived back to find a low-loader parked outside and them loading the car onto it!

They did not even try and fix it!!! I now have a loaner Vauxhall Zafira until at least tuesday - wonderful

The car looks ace but mechanically is a bag'o'shite I am afraid.
