I finally found 2011 328i 4-dr M-Sport, premium pkg, leather, auto. Preowned asking $30,900, 5630 miles. Need advise on price negotiation. Car located in California.

I'd start off low, but i doubt they will sell for less than 28k. Most dealers won't go far under blue book unless its been on the lot a very long time or has a lot of dings.

10% is the absolute max you can get off any used car. Depending on how long the car's been on the lot, you may not even get 10%. Keep that in mind when negotiating

I bought mine from carmax and paid $2500 for their extended warranty (used it already). Its 7 years or upto 125k. My car had 50k when i bought it, but I'm sure a car with less mileage cost a little more for the warranty, or maybe a little less. Im not sure which way it goes, although i got my x5 from them and the warranty was more so its possible it would be less with less mileage. The CPO only goes upto 100k (not sure the years allowed) and your paying a premium for that as well. At least with Carmax you get to go to 125k and have 7 years. It's upto you, but if that dealer won't go below 30k for it then I'd suggest getting the 335i. It'll cost you about 4-5k more, but trust me you won't ever regret it. The carmax warranty is refundable as well, they pro-rate the warranty if you ever sell your car or decide to cancel it. You can also transfer it to the new owner if you wanted. You could also save money and buy a 2007-2010 twin turbo 335i model for much less, but I'm not going to tell you how to spend your money. Just wanted you to see the options you have. Either way, good luck with your decisions ![]()
