Dealer told me both my valve cover and oil filter housing gasket and just starting to show signs of leaking. Said waiting 6-9 months would be absolutely fine, but am considering doing it sooner rather than later.

Typical problems I know.

If I would try to do this myself (not sure yet) what are some other things I might as well do if doing these 2 gasket replacements?

Meaning, since I'm taking those things off, other parts will be accessible. Are there any other good things to do while doing these replacements?... Maybe spark plugs or something, not sure? I know you font have to flush coolant or oil change after these 2 things, but I still probably would just to be on the safe side.

My biggest diy so far have been brakes, so not sure I'm going to diy or pony up some $ at an Indy or dare I say the stealership, most likely diy or my local Indy tho.

Probobly do spark plugs while your there, and I think the n52 has an issue with the ecs eccentric cam sensor failing, you should look it up on the forum.
Also, is there a PVC hose in the back of the valve cover? On n54s those get replaced too.
You can do cool packs if you feel like it, you'll be removing them, but may not be necessary and simple to do at any time.

Spark plugs seem to be the biggest one... Guess I should look into that, and this ecs sensor. I'll have to check the hose, hard to see down into the engine with all the plastic covers.

Spark plugs and that's about it. If the rest of the car works well, there's nothing that requires preventive maintenance in the area.

the valve cover gasket is a big job, so I had a mechanic do it. also I recommend changing the eccentric sensor while you are there. and you can consider changing the spark plugs.

oil filter housing is a separate job, and much easier. mine isn't leaking so I didn't change it.

Yea, I'm leaning to maybe diy on the OFH gasket, but for the valve cover I will more than likely fork out the cash at my Indy or dealer.
Dealer quoted me like $450 for OFH and about $900 for the valve cover... Both are high prices I know, but i need to see what my Indy charges... Sometimes he isn't that much cheaper than the dealer.
