Hi guys.

I developed a knock from the bottom end of my 07 330d a few weeks ago and BMW have quoted me the best part of 2k just for investigatory work.

Basically the guy at BMW told me i'd be better off sourcing a new engine and having it swapped over.

There are a couple of ads on ebay offering supply and fit for around the £2.5k mark (remanufactured), but after researching these companies they seem to be a bit dodgy.

I just wondered if anyone had a good recommendation of a BMW specialist in or around kent/east sussex/essex area that they think would do a good job. Or even somewhere with a good reputation that could possibly supply an engine.

I only bought the car last year for 13k, last thing I want to do is weigh out 2 and a half grand for a bad job.

can I ask what has failed in your engine ?

try and look for a bottom end may be cheaper, did it start knocking ?

We're not even sure as it costs way too much to strip it down. Ive been told it will be much cheaper to just swap the engine out.
