335i..... Auto Gearbox Query
Recently bought a MY11 E91 335i with the auto gearbox, non DCT.
This is my first automatic car, coming from an M3 with a 6-sp manual, I know that the gearbox isn't razor sharp like the DSG in my sisters Polo GTi, which I expected.... however, is it possible to hold my car in gear/allow it to hit the limiter?? Or really sharpen up the speed of gear changes?? I'm no drifting messiah, but I do like to have a little play around with the DTC/DSC turned fully off. Now it is easy to get it to break traction, but as it lights up the rear tyres, starts to slide, feels great; then it hits the limiter and the fun stops because there's a slight delay as it changes up a gear which allows the tyres to grip and the slide to end. Cheers, Grant |

If you shift it over into sport you can hold the gears as long as you please
Sharpening up wise - have you tried a manual reset? If you do a search and follow a few steps it will feel much better Failing that you can opt for an alpine flash (again, search is your friend) I'm a relative noob too so no doubt someone will be along soon to put me/us right |

It will still change up as it hits the limiter even if you are in M/S.
Alpina flash is 1000% better and highly recommended. I do believe there is coding available to stop the change up/kick down. Pm Makkan. He is all things holy with these things and did my 335i as well as loads of other people on the forum. WM |

Yes you need the Alpina flash otherwise the gearbox in so-called "manual" mode is a pile of toss.

Thanks for the reply Jim.
The manual reset is the one with the key/30seconds accelerator sequence?? I haven't tried it, but will do so later on, see if that makes a difference. I am shifting across into DS, then selecting M2 with the paddles, but once it hits the rev limiter in M2 then it automatically changes up into M3 which kind of kills the fun a wee bit. Would love a reflash of the AT with Alpina software, seems to make a big difference, but unsure of cost and where would do that within a couple hundred miles radius of me on the east coast of Scotland. Cheers Grant

Need to increase my response time, two replies while I was typing a reply to Jim!!
Thank you for the replies though, I'll send a PM to Makkan, this is the only real gripe that I've got with the car.. and if I could sort it, that'd be fantastic!! Cheers, Grant

If you have a 335i and a Quaife then you owe it to yourself
