Comfort access; PARTIAL retrofit? possible?
comfort access is great, anyone who has it can vouch for this.
retrofitting comfort access is a massive pain in the backside, also vouch-able but, why retrofit the entire comfort access system when you can save parts costs + install time by only installing part of it? basically, only install the modules, two antennas near the DRIVER door, as well as the comfort access handle on only the driver door.... you'd need to get the comfort access keys and program them of course, but this would cut out a large chunk of cost from parts as well as labor cost from a shop or time spent DIY has anyone tried this? would not having all the components in the system make it confused? |

I have seen the videos of the install and the kit comes with all the antennas already attached (total 6 I think - 4 doors + 1 trunk + 1 ignition). So I am not sure how you could just rip off all the unwanted cables from the unit. Plus routing this antenna into the door and to the trunk is PITA. My suggestion is to just manage until until you sell the car and get a car that has the comfort access.

that's why i was talking about a partial retrofit, metblack. the control module sits in the dashboard somewhere, and i'd only install ONE driver door antenna plus ONE comfort access door handle

http://www.amazon.com/Directed-Elect.../dp/B0051MV01U also would you need one of these for enabling comfort access like operations like proximity unlock and the push button start without inserting the key? and is there a certain T-harness for the e90 that plugs into this xpress kit module to make all this magic happen? EDIT; basically im asking for a shopping list here, everything i would need to get the same effects as comfort access Last edited by joekitch; 05-06-2014 at 07:55 AM.. |
