CIC iDrive Retrofit!

My MY08 335 came with just a professional radio in it. I decided that I wanted to install a CIC, so here it is!

I'm still working on getting Navigation, Bluetooth, and Sirius up and going but at least the main unit is in.

Started at about 2:30 in the afternoon and had pretty much most of the car put back together by 8:30. That included some downtime in the rain But overall CIC is awesome. I can't wait to have everything up and running and then I can add the backup camera and perhaps a combox.

Was there any reason you pulled the entire dash?

I've seen this done but the dash didn't have to come out.

Excellent work bro! Been waiting to see somebody actually do this! I'm thinking of doing this, do you have a parts list and how much everything ran you?

My car started with NO i Drive at all. I had the regular professional radio without the double scoop dash board.

I don't have a final parts list as yet, but I can update as soon as I do. Would you want a parts list of the full dash board installation or just the swap to CIC?

Fortunately for me, I was able to source the dashboard for only $200 locally at a junkyard. All the pieces for the CIC, I won't post because I found very good prices and I don't want to ruin any of the vendors on the forum's prices for retrofits.

As of now, the only thing left for me to get working is Navigation, I am determining if I can get away with generating the FSC codes or if I need the emulator. And after that, Sirius radio. After that, it's backup camera time

you can generate codes for map updates but not to enable navigation/voice/sirius. You need an emulator or codes from BMW ($1300+)

For the dash removal? There is one already.

http://home.comcast.net/~Booster/idr...e_retrofit.pdf

I combined this DIY with DIY of CIC retrofit.

Same as the wiring in that DIY. Not terrible to be honest. I actually make all of the connections myself. I found a chopped harness on ebay to grab the pins for the connectors, bought the connectors, and used 18 gauge wire to wire it up.
