Yay or nay?Cosmetic opinion

To sum it up, some dickhead at best buy backed up into my BMW. He punctured right through the bumper, and crushed my hood. (It was a Explorer). Anyways, Since OEM is like 650 for a hood, and I don't personally like the stock look, should I purchase this m3-style vented plastic hood from this guy?

This is my car

this is the replacement hood

This is what he's offering me "100% fitment guaranty or your money back."He said refund on the shipping, and the hood.

The bumper....I'm just going to stick with the OEM bumper and eventually just buy a lip or something. Converting it from Stock to M3 front sounds costly.(because of the fog lights)

So let me know guys...thanks.

Also ..... It is made for the E92 pre and post face lift since the hood didn't change. So I'm guessing it'll fit my car. Amirite?

Woahwoah hold up. Before you go spending money, you should be aware the front end of the E92/93 LCI changed significantly from its Pre-LCI counterpart in comparison to the E90/91 LCI and Pre-LCI.

The E90 LCI headlights can very easily be installed in a Pre-LCI vehicle, because the body panel openings are the same shape. While the bumpers and the hood may look different, they are dimensionally identical where body panels meet.

This is not the case for the E92/93 LCI. The front fenders are a different shape, and are not cross-compatible. The grilles are a different shape, so the bumpers and the hood aren't cross-compatible. Even the headlights are a different shape, so in order to retrofit E92 LCI headlights on to a E92 Pre-LCI, you need an entirely new front end

So my point is, if that hood is designed for a E92 Pre-LCI (and it probably is) you're gonna have a very bad time. Even the E92 LCI M3 kept the Pre-LCI front end so the factory didn't have to re-tool the molds for the front fenders, bumpers, and hood, just so they could get the new headlights.

This is exactly why I posted this thread, I was getting confused with that whole ordeal. Thanks for your help buddy.

Now time to find the proper hood!

Rollinstone summed it up great.

But you can find a m3 replica front bumper made to fit your car without having to modify any of the other body panels.

And in my opinion, there are a lot sweeter hoods than an m3 rep.

Unfortunately, you're in a bit of a tough position. There are many more Pre-LCI E92/93's on the road, so there is a larger demand for aftermarket hoods--not as much for the LCI's.

I honestly think your most cost effective solution is going to be to use the insurance check to get the OEM LCI hood, and call it a day.

The only option I know of is the Duke Dynamics D4 PowerDome hood (can be had with or without vents) but it starts at $900 and goes up for double-sided CF. So it's a pretty expensive piece to say the least.

That's a shame. I looked at the Duke Dynamic one and the only one that looks good is the one that's cut out which is like $1400 (No thanks) and the one that's $900 is just ridiculously expensive for just a small change in the hood. I think i'm just going to go with what you said. Just go with OEM items, Hood and Bumper. It's a shame LCI isn't being produced as much yet.

I appreciate the help .Thanks

I'll look into some aftermarket lci bumpers. Hopefully those exist, and aren't too expensive. If not I'll probably end up purchasing a oem off of here for a good price.

Again, you're going to run in to a similar problem with LCI bumpers. If your insurance is paying for a new front bumper, might as well get the M-Tech bumper! It looks a lot better and it will fit like an OEM bumper...cause it is an OEM bumper.
