My turn for a stupid question
I'm looking at doing 19x8.5 et 35 front and 19x9.5 et 35 rear on some wheels this week. I'm thinking 235 front and 255 rear for treads but I'm also putting coil overs on shortly after getting these shoes fitted. I'm looking to get as close to perfect fit so there's little to no gap and the top of the tires being level with the edge of the fender (sorry, not sure what that's considered but obviously not stanced or flush. I'm a noob to suspension). Need recommendations on spacer size. Should I go wider on the tires? I don't won't to roll or pull the fenders unless I absolutely have to to avoid rubbing.
TL;DR PEEPS: What spacers do I need to run in the rear to get everything to fit as clean as possible?

Get wider rims so you don't need spacers. That's what I wish I did. But i have the setup you are looking at. I run 235/35/19 F and 265/30/19 and it look great, I think with 255 you would lose all protection of the wheel lip. My 265s on the rear look almost stretched.
I am debating running a spacer in the rear, but it's so close already. I'd say anything over a 5mm and I would need fender work.

The wheels will be flush but once you lower they will sink in a little. For tires the front size is fine but go with at least a 265/30 in the rear. Wait on the spacers until everything is mounted and lowered. That way you can measure and get the perfect size

Just so we're clear here, I am Xi so keeping the 1% or lower difference in rolling diameter is an absolute must so as not to frag the transfer case.
The only offsets available on the wheels I've decided on are 35 and 20 so the 35 is really the only option I can realistically use. Hence why I asked. Appreciate the feedback though.

245/265? I'm running 245 in front and it doesn't rub at all. Wheel sits flush and ride height is set where the top of tire is even with fender (on KW V3's). Front only contacts the fender liner in turns if I hit a bump. A 265 in rear shouldn't cause you any issues. If you're concerned about clearance, get the +35. You can always add spacers later and with an off the shelf wheel, width determines lip and concavity, not offset. So you wouldn't lose anything by adding spacers later. The +20 will just have more back pad than the +35.
FWIW, I had a 285 in the rear of my E92 w/ a tiny roll and it didn't rub. I just went to a 295 and had to roll the fenders more aggressively (slightly pulled now) but it still doesn't rub. Also the top of the shock body had to be pushed back a little bit for clearance. I hear it hit the felt liner on big bumps, but that doesn't bother me. So there's more room back there than some people think. I could go 305 if I was willing to put up with moderate rubbing (but I'm not). |

What about 225/35 up front for optimal rolling diameter with 265/30 rear? With PSS you would probably have sufficient sidewall to protect rim, and look only slightly stretched.

No thanks. 225 is too much of a compromise in front end grip on a summer street setup.

Sounds like you're probably set for 235/35 and 265/30.

I ran the 225/255 factory staggered setup for years on my '07 E92 328xi and hated it (even without RFT's).
