Methonal water injection for 335d
Who is running with this now?
Which kits are you using? I am considering this, not only for performance but to also combat the dreaded carbon build up in our cars. I saw a pic on here somewhere of before and after pics of cbu and it appeared that he had very good results. I plan to do egr delete immediately, and install a meth kit for my car if this is the answer, so any input on pro's and con's related to this install, as well as experience would be appreciated! |

Please chime in here on how or if you tuned for it, what kit, and what percentage your running, as well as tune your running with it, I'm planning on tuning as soon as possible and will defiantly be adding meth at the same time, unless someone here can give me a good reason not to??? Also plan to use the urea tank as storage for water/meth mix, seams like the most efficient way of doing this space wise, as after the tune is complete there will no def system in use

Im using a kit that doesnt exist anymore so I cant really help you there. Im running 50/50 pretty much all the time. The spray is progressive starting around 10PSI boost and scaling up from there, not sure when/where it hits 100%. If I remember correctly the nozzle is 800cc/min (around 12.5 GPM). Mine runs with a JBD. You really dont need any tune though, so any tune thats good without it will be good with it

Any dyno's before and after? Any pics of intake before and after? How long have you been running this set up? From my understanding JBD is not able to tune out egr, Dfp, and scr, is this true? Approx how much meth are you using,(per mile/ or tank)? Thank! |

JBD will not risk EPA be on his ass there is a hefty fine for deleting DPF/EGR so we have tuners like Ecotune, Evolve or others that will do it. But, be aware you might have to sign a disclosure for OFF ROAD use only. Thats if these aforementioned companies have notified you on this. Good luck amigo Im in the midst fo doing mines in next few months
Ask Tdi or iaknown they can give you a better insight

don't have on my car but do on my diesel truck. 5.9 cummins. i went with http://www.alcoholinjectionsystems.com/index.html. i didn't buy a kit necessary from them as i used the washer fluid tank for the methanol mix but got the pump, nozzle, and pressure switch from them. I have the pressure switch set at around 18 pounds for injection.

And this is off topic but just a fyi, once any tuner/company gets a proper waiver signed it is out of their hands. Sure they may get some flack but they are not responsible and will not be fined. It is then the responsibility of the car owner. This is proven time and again by the many companies modding diesel trucks with EGR and DPF deletes here in the states. |

Is there a particular thread? Are you running JBD? This seams to be the easiest way of adding an electrically controlled on off switch to the system... I plan to run a different tune, as to delete all of the expensive power reducing prone to failure items. I did see somewhere where someone was piggie backing a JBD with a custom tune, or that is what it sounded like where the JBD controlled the meth Ono off times based on psi. |

Very true iaknown my buddy was contacted by them, unfortunately they (EPA) like to harass tuners!!

At this point from the read watch I have done (we) diesel owners don't need to tune for meth as gassers do. It's is much more dangerousness for a gas motor to run out of meth without some kind if fail safe as not to but up the motor. On the other hand diesels get the added bennifits of meth, without the extra tuning and dangers. My biggest concerns at this point are proper atomization, finding a high enough psi pump along eith a properly sized nossel as not to quench combustion, or worst case senerio hydro lock. |

youre never going to spray enough methanol to hydrolock the engine unless you intentionally go with a setup that is 2x bigger than you should (or more maybe). Finding a pump the right size should be easy, pretty much all of the methanol players use the same pump just with different names pasted on the side. Atomization of course is a function of nozzle and PSI. Just get a quality pump and you can use just about any nozzle size within reason, mine is I believe 800cc/min.

Update methonal kit is installed
No tune, stock with meth kit running 625cc 50/50 meth/water mix. I have ran it with a heavier mix a few times hoping for a faster clean up (Not running 11's lol!).... Yet Last edited by gtp900; 06-26-2014 at 12:03 AM.. Reason: Pic |
