So I bought my car in PA so it did not with a front mounted license plate (thank God). But I need to get my car inspected in NJ soon and was wondering if anybody passed without having one. Or if you put your front license plate somewhere temporary (without drilling holes) in order to pass.

If you didn't pass because of the lack of front license plate, where did you go and pay to pass inspection? Or do all private inspection businesses not care about the front license plate? FYI I live in Monmouth County. Thanks!

can always get the tow hook mount

Use 3M double sided tape. Press it firmly and It'll hold. And then when you want to remove it just use some goo gone and you'll never know.

I passed with no front plate. I had mine on a tow hook mount but said screw it and removed it since my plate kept getting bent at car washes. I forgot to mount it to my car when i took it for inspection and the guy asked if I had a front plate mid process. Told him it was in the trunk and he said OK and passed me. He was young though (early 20's) and commented on how my car looked so I may have just been lucky that day. I'm in Morris county FYI.

you don't need a front plate to pass inspection. back in november an employee told me it wasn't necessary to pass when he saw me putting it on.

NJ switched to emissions only..you can pass with equipment violations as long as your emissions are good. They might say something to you but you will still get the sticker. They gave me a hard time about my tinted windshield, I just nicely asked for my sticker

I know they usually just plug in and check for codes. But it stinks like dank coming out the back
