I keep taking it to the dealer because they know what they're doing and I'm scared shitless of touching my headlights or anything around them, but I figured I would get some real-life experiences from people who have done this sort of thing.

I'm not local, but I just switched mine out 2 days ago. I followed the DIY on here. A little time consuming, but very easy.

You don't have to drop the bumper, but you DO have to remove the fender liners. So I'd advise jacking up the car, removing the front wheels, then remove the 8mm screws to remove the fender liner. Once the liner is removed you can see the access door for the back of the headlight. 5 T-20 torx bolts and that comes off and the D1S bulb is right there.

Jack up the side of the car that has a burn out bulb and remove the wheel. Then remove the fender liner so that you can see the back of the headlight. Then remove the headlight cover; replacing the bulb itself is pretty easy. Just make sure you put the headlight cover on nice and tight. If it is latched on wrong you will get condensation in your headlight.

Simply open the top cover to change the angel eye bulb, give it a quick blast with the hair dryer, and close it up. That will remove any moisture that happened to accumulate if you decided to change the bulb on a day where there was 95% humidity But really, you'll be fine. If you have a jack and the tools, there's no reason you can't do it yourself! |
