Recommendations on weed whackers

My Toro gas trimmer finally pooped out after 10 years and I think I want to replace it with a cordless rechargeable. Anyone use something like that? I don't have a lot to trim, driveway, curb and around the jungle gym.

I had a cordless for three years. Batteries kept dying even though I tried to maintain the charge. Went and got a Styhl gas that has the different attachments. So for me, the electric did not cut it.

I only understood the word weed from that without google, and I was impressed with this thread.

This seems to fit in with the "First World Problems" thread but I the lawn care crew that comes to my house all use gas Husqvarna tools. In the past, I never really had good luck with the electric ones like @Malibu1 said. My old man has some off brand electric that has been going strong for like 6 or 7 years now though.

Stihl-------------or Stihl - they do have an electric system, reputable german made products, go to a Stihl dealer to check them out. I have been using their gas machines since 1991 and still have my original backpack blower, most recently purchased their electric leaf blower for smaller jobs.

I have a Black & Decker cordless weed wacker. The battery dies pretty fast so it's a pain in the ass but it does do a good job cutting.

I just bought an echo for my shop because of 5 year warranty and only being $200ish. I have a yard guy that takes care of my house. I assume he uses stihl.

I'm rocking an Echo that i purchased 5yrs ago for $200 from the HoDepot.
The best i have owned, i do proper maintenance when storing it away during the Fall/Winter. Also whats cool about buying brand names/heavy duty is they offer parts. I can get a carb rebuilt kit for mine...... and every part can be had from Echo on line or a call away.
Thus making this, buy it once......for life

Before I had lawn care (I actually enjoy doing it myself I just don't have the time) I went through a new ryobi every year or two. I had all the attachments and was too cheap to buy a new system.

Much of the stuff is junk today, and will break after one season and out of warranty. So to spend less is the name of the game. Anything around $120 or less will do from the overpriced home center store. Don't expect to get something that will last 10 yrs, those days are gone. If you have tons of time on your hands then you can read all the user complaints online. If not, just buy it for <$120, and move on....
