Power available in center console for lighted shift knob?
I recently got a lighted manual transmission shift knob from Bimmian and wanted to connect it to power. When I lifted up the center console trim, I was shocked to find that there was no vestigial power socket from a cigarette lighter. I guess I could try to go back to the USB socket at the back of the console or into the radio/climate control. Suggestions? I have a 2011 335i coupe.

Does your car have the smoker package? If you do you should with the ash tray/cig lighter right in front of the manual shifter? You could tap into that. There would be the power lead that is only on with the key and also a light power source thats only on with the headlights.
