Self car wash in chicago

Hi all,

Moving to Chicago and want to keep washing my car, avoiding scratches...
In the winter I guess will stick with touch less auto services but in Spring and summer would like to wash it by hand. My prospective condo doesn't have a place to wash and I wonder if anyone has recommendations were to go.

Even if it's not in downtown. Im willing to drive.

where in chicago are you living? there are a ton of self car washes in the areas surrounding chicago but not really any within a 5 mile radius of downtown itself. I usually get my car cleaned at fast eddies hand car wash in bucktown.

Thanks for the answer. In south loop. I need a place where I will be able to take a bit of time (for example... be able to apply quick detailer after the wash).

Thanks again.

Well I'm not sure about locations like that in the city (tho I'm sure there are some), but they're all over the suburbs.

Well there's one in Lockport on 159th street that I go once in a while. $5 gets you 10 minutes to wash as you please.

But I'm about 20 miles from the loop.

And that includes? Water?

Is there any area to park and dry the car?

10 minutes is not a lot of time!

Yes.

There's a knob where you turn which action you want (rinse, soap, wax, etc etc) and then do it yourself. You can always add more singles to get more time because I agree, 10 minutes is only sufficient if you're somewhat of a veteran .

But yes there's plenty of spaces after the wash to hand dry your car. There is also a machine dryer for $1 (30 seconds).

I live in south loop currently and there really are no hand car wash places close to here. I guess you can go more south into the hood and find a hand car wash place there but you will probably get robbed.

I live in the loop by Millenium Park and there really is not any self wash ports in downtown area, at least that I know of.

I always drive out to Schaumburg for this to

Busy Bee Carwash

706 W Golf Rd
Schaumburg, IL 60194

together with shopping to Woodfield Mall lol.

When I don't have time to drive out I usually go to Simon's Shine Shop (hand wash, though not self), 15min drive from loop, where they take good care of your car for 20 bucks.

I remember seeing a self wash off I55, California or Kedzie exit.

Have you used them? Do they wash without leaving swirl marks?

I have and they are one of the top notch places to go. The thing with swirls is its a car wash they will not take the time you would take to prevent swirl. Even going to a self wash will not prevent that.
