Extended wheel studs
I just received my VMR Wheels. They look amazing. But, the local tire shop told me that I needed extended stud bolts for these wheels. They are the V701's. I have a 2009 328i sedan. Can I use the factory wheel studs for this install? Or, do I have to purchase aftermarket longer studs?
Thanks. JCole |

The amount of the bolt that is actually screwed into the hub should remain the same, if you want to keep the design strength. I do not know how far the bolt sticks out, but if you have your stock wheels still, take one of the bolts out, stick it in the hole on the OEM wheel, and measure how much sticks out.
Then, do the same on the new wheel. If it is less, you should get longer bolts. If it is more, they may go too far in and literally lock the wheel to the backer, and you won't be able to turn the wheel. Not all aftermarket wheels are the same, so a specific answer can only come from someone who has the same exact wheel... |
