Worth it to buy Lux or other high end angel eyes?

Is it really worth buying LED angel eyes from Lux, WeissLicht, or any of the other brands popular on the forum? Has anyone had good success buying a $60 kit off of ebay? I don't have the LED angel eyes and am looking to upgrade.

Thanks!

No it's not worth it. Do not buy from popular vendors on here. #Sarcasm

Some people swear by Lux and the higher end (or higher priced) ones but I've seen a bunch of them in person and tell you the truth, fell short of expectation. But then again, I've realized that any led upgrade you get will fall short of expectation. I think everyone is trying to replicate the lci rings with led upgrades and the way our housing is set up we just won't get that. I have a pair I bought from e92-lighting and at night looks awesome, imo but again, during the day, you have to look at it at a certain angle. So to answer your question....no it's not worth it. But on the other hand, I'm not sure I'd go with an ebay brand either. Some burn out quickly or you need coding, etc. I'd stick with the vendor ones that people have reviews on.

The 40W and 60W options are popular with us. The are bright but yes if you have the notion they will look like the late model BMWs and you have those sort of expectations you are setting yourself up for disappointment. It's impossible to achieve the same vivid output and even distribution since the BMW headlights in the earlier models are flawed.

On the positive side of things LED have come a long way and LED options just from a year ago are behind in technology.

The LED technology improves monthly in some applications.

If I sold 100 of these 60W version I've only had 1 guy say it did not meet his expectations. What's funny is we've been selling these since the 10W and 20W days and I never heard a complaint about the 20W version either. They look way better then the stock dull halogens, that's for sure.

i went with lux just because i could change the color output to match my headlights according. there nice but bmw's light channel with their angel eye sucks. just put your money towards actual led rings like the oss angel eyes. you wont regret it. hoping to upgrade to those this summer.

Cree is simply a manufacturer of the LED Emitters, they do not design the light, assemble it, or manufacture the LED Driver that drives the emitters. Truthfully there are other manufactures of LED's that have nearly identical output, but are just more expensive. Just because a light is called "Cree" doesn't make it good

There are lots of brands out there as everyone mentioned, and some people have had decent luck with eBay, others have gotten products that don't fit or dont work. All the vendors here on the forum guarantee their products and stand behind them. We have personally been making and designing or own products since day 1 so we especially stand behind them 100%.

Also as mentioned any plug-and-play kit will be trying to overcome the design flaws of the headlights, so as long as you dont expect it to look like the e92 LCI's then you'll be ok. We have designed our LUX H8 V4 lights to be adjustable color and also making them as bright as possible offering 100% no dimming to ensure max brightness.

Personally, I have seen some of the higher end LED solutions in person and we have a couple in our neighborhood and I see them in lots of lighting conditions.

The fact is, you CAN see them in the daylight and you can even get some prety nice pictures in full daylight (look through some of the forum posts). However, if
you expect them to work as DRLs (meaning they actually attract your attention and make others notice your presence like the LCI OEM ings do), you are
going to be disappointed. The LED solutions are really decoration only and don't function at the level of Audi, Lexus and BMW newer rings, which get your
immediate attention on the road.

Only ways to get real drl function on E90s: a) leave the halogens, b) upgrade to LED after-market rings like OSS, c) use HID in your angel eyes (that is what I have
but still considering other options as they become available).

It should be noted that many individuals look at these angel eyes at the wrong angles. They are intended to be viewed at nearly eye level with the headlights and in excess of 30 feet. That is how BMW designed them.

Here is an example of our 60W from one of our customers.

Agreed. I got mine from e92 lighting (H8 Creed), they are not bad but still a big difference from the real thing. Inner rings much brighter than outer rings, which was explained to me is that the inner rings transmit light to the outer ring due to BMW ring design.

If anyone can afford it, OSS is as close as it will get to the BMW OEM, if not better.

Been very happy with my e90 pre lci Lux. Although....I rarely ever see them. I have always thought it funny how crazy people are over headlights. You really never get to appreciate them.

If you want sharp even rings, visible from all angles, you need to open your lights and install new led rings. All the led bulb upgrades will look uneven, spotty from off-center viewing, etc.

My lux are outstanding, loved them every second since installing them.

The level of support they provide on this board is equally as outstanding.

+1 for setting expectations. i knew that the plug & play wouldn't be the same as the new cars but i believe it still gives a nice upgrade over the halogen bulbs. expect it to have an updated look but not to look like the new cars. i'm very happy with mine based on the ease of installation and what i still consider to be a vast improvement.

remember a lot of photos will show the LEDs in the their best angle.. some angles you may not see much but that's just the way the stock angel eyes work no matter what bulb is connected to them.

always nice to see them in person but having realistic expectations is possible with just looking at photos.

good luck!

Depends on angle u photo and look -
With any plug n play-
Output on lux - I've used and it's bueno -
Every one has a choice -this is what I choose when I had my LCI
And pre-LCI.

And like some one said if u want full solid rings
U got to crack open ur headlight and get it done -
Like on my e46 m3 wagon
