Steptronic problem

My 06 325i won't go into steptronic mode... What causes this?

can you be more specific? do you mean DS mode?

if you mean in DS mode, it could be a broken wire under the shift lever boot. hopefully this is the case, as there is a relatively easy fix of simply patching the broken wire. there is a DIY on the site for it: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=511799
