18" M wheels to 19" Alufelgen SF-71's, XL tyres or no?
Hi guys,
Going from standard issue 18" M sport 193M alloys with Run flats to the 19" SF-71's with: to 235/35/19 fronts 265/30/19 rears. Looking to go non run flats on the new 19" wheels to offset the bigger wheel noise/harsh ride than if i put run flats on the 19". Problem: I don't want the wallowy ride that some report upon changing from run flat to non runflats due to softer side walls. So: Question: Do i go XL (extra load) or normal non run flat tyres to mittigate the potential difference in handling? Anyone with views or indeed first hand experience of doing the above using either XL or normal load tyres is appreciated.

I struggle to get non XL tyres in those (or similar) sizes for the most part. Id say that the difference in handling on a profile 30 tyre couldnt exactly be called wallowy lol. You are going from run flats to nobbly offroad tyres here remember.
Saying that ive got no experience of runflats but using similar size regular tyres i can honestly say my handling is fine. |

Im running non run flat tyres on 19's and I would not describe the ride as wallowy at all.
As Maccy D said, with a tyre profile of just 30 the ride is going to be pretty solid regardless of the tyre lol. Maybe if you went from 17" run flats to 17" non run flats with a 45 profile you would describe it as wallowy and not particularly sporty, but you should be fine with your plans |
