Wheel Alignment - Cambridgeshire - BMW or...

Picked up my E92 325d 2 weeks ago from a dealership in Doncaster.

On the test drive i mentioned that it was pulling slightly to the left and got told that it should have full alignment carried out once it had been through the workshop (car had only just arrived)

Upon driving home i noticed it was pulling but put it down to the roads. 2 weeks on its still slightly off and want it looking at again, only issue is the dealership is 100miles from myself.

Spoke to the salesman who suggested i booked it into my local bmw dealer for a technician to take a look. Am i best to do this as its under warranty...although to my knowledge tracking isnt covered? Or would it be chargeable to the dealership i bought it from due to it not being correct at time of purchase?

If not, anybody got any other suggestions for 4 wheel alignment in Cambridgeshire? Ive not had much luck previously!!!

Depends where in Cambridgeshire. I've used STS tyre pros in Huntingdon before and they were ok. They didn't charge for the check, only for any adjustments that needed done. That was a year or so ago though.

Just tyres on St. Peter's road in Huntingdon only charge £28.00 as I have just had two cars done their. However I was not convinced on both occasions that it was done with precision and so cannot recommend them for tracking. On the other hand they are the cheapest place that I can find anywhere in Cambs for tyres and the service they give is first class. I always search for tyres and get two quotes and go their for a price comparison and they always and I mean always beat any other price.

See this is the issue ive had before. Prior to the e92 i had a Clio 200 on KW V3 coilovers. Due to the width of the car, the width of the tyres and the way it sat, it was mega mega fussy with its alignment....yet it was very hit and miss as to whether any of my local garages would get it right or not.

When you throw into the mix some camber adjustment etc the £38 goes up to £70-80-90 and its a risk as to whether they get it right or not!

Tempted to go to BMW and try to blag them charging the dealer i bought it from.

From my experience, the only way the local dealer will agree to that, is if the supplying dealer actually books it in, and therefore is liable for the bill.

Your local dealer will not want to get involved in a "who's paying for it" scenario.

Good Luck.

Oooft. Less hassle to just take it somewhere for alignment then...no doubt be cheaper than what BMW would charge me!

Surely the supplying dealer is liable, you raised the matter on the test drive, and it is still not right, I would lean on the dealer to authorise the local one to do the work, and pick up the bill.

Could be more than just alignment, you don't want to be paying, when it's under AUC warranty, speak to BMW Customer Services, and get them to speak to supplying dealer.
