Which I-pod works best with the 6FL option ?

Hi,

I am going to buy a new I-pod for my car, I have the 6FL option. Which of the different I-pods works best ? I have heard that the I-pod touch with 16GB works good but I would like to have more Gigs without the risk of a slowly browsing in the music library.

I appreciate your experiences and recommendations on the choice of the best I-pod for a brand new E92, with 6FL option and Navi/i-drive.

Thanks.

The problem with Nano is that you do not get more capacity than the I-pod Touch with 16 GB. Maybe if this new USB 32 GB stick is compatible with the 6FL option, it would work fast:

Is the I-pod Classic 80 GB still slowly to use with latest BMW, firmware update ?

I use a third gen 20 gb. If you don't plan on taking it out all the time, why use a video ipod? Word of warning: the classic , touch, and iphone require a special Apple cable to play video on a tv, dvd player, and some sound docks.

Hey guys, I have an iPhone and an original E90 330i (2006). Is there any software update (or add on hardware) that will allow me to control it with the head unit? I don't have iDrive.

It's not the model of iPod that should concern you, it's the system itself that doesn't display all tracks sometimes, doesn't properly show the timer, has slow scrolling, cannot display a list with the infamous "no entries" message, etc. etc. etc.

The latest PROGMAN 27.02.02 has resolved some issues, partially mended others or done nothing to fix the rest of the problems but that's about as good as it's going to get until the next update.

Well the iPod model does matter (or at least it did when i picked up my car in late september). 3rd generation ipods are not supported and do not work at all with the 6fl plugin thing. I'm assuming older ones wont either. That's why I had to purchase a newer version of ipod.

I have none of the problems you list other than the scrolling which is slow, but not awful.

People that experience the issues I listed tend to have large libraries.

I think the size and amount of files on your iPod really have an effect on performance. Since I got the PROGMAN update I've noticed an overall improvement but it's still not anywhere near perfect.

I have a 160gb classic and the thing is always powered up. It never turns off. This isn't intended behavior?
