Getbmwparts.com order… Help!

Hey guys, sorry if this isn't the right place to post this but just wanted to see if anyone else out there has had the same sort of experience I'm having… So basically, I placed an order for injectors and steering wheel trim from getbmwparts .com.. One day later they sent me an email saying they need a photo of the credit card I used and a piece of ID, since the credit card is Canadian and so is the billing address, to take my order off hold.. I found this really weird so when I had the time I shot them an email asking if this was for real… Long story short, I was receiving almost instantaneous emails back ensuring me that this was their policy and all information will be destroyed after the manual authorization took place. As soon as I sent the credit card (with the middle 8 digits covered) photo and the ID, I did not get a reply back which caused me to worry…. I sent a message to them requesting at least confirmation of receiving the photos, but still nothing… I really hope that I'm freaking out for nothing because the order was around 600$, and I wouldn't be too happy losing that much money…

I'm not trying to flame Tischer or anything, I'm just confused as to why the responses were instantaneous right before I sent the photos then right after there was absolutely nothing…. I've been waiting about 6 hours for a reply now and still nothing…. I'm afraid that maybe it was a hacker or something (you can tell my minds been sprinting all day about this…) Just wanted to know if someone has been in a similar situation and that it's completely normal so I can stop freaking out lol…. Thanks in advance!!

EDIT: To anyone reading this thread... It was just because the emails were being sent on Friday lol.. Everything has been resolved now! If they ask you to send ID and a picture of the credit card, it's normal. And if you send them late Friday afternoon and don't get a reply instantly, don't freak out like I did loool x_x

I've never ordered from them but I've been purchasing things online for a long time. Just not your normal protocol for an e-commerce purchase.

Only thing I can think of is that this is something that happens with foreign orders to prevent fraud. I wouldnt be too worried especially since you only showed the first and last four of your card.

I'm assuming you're shipping to a US address since I don't believe they ship internationally any longer. If you request that the parts be shipped anywhere other than the credit card billing address, they will ask for a copy of your driver's license and credit card:

Due to rising internet fraud, we've had to tighten our fraud protection policies. Your initial order with getBMWparts.com MUST ship to your authorized billing address - or you can email a clear scan/pic of your driver's license and credit card to us at getHelp@getbmwparts.com for approval if you need to ship to an alternate shipping address. Submit your order through our site, then immediately email the pic of the front and back of your driver's license and credit card to us at getHelp@getBMWparts.com. We'll delete/destroy these documents upon approval, and not require these for future orders.

Yeah shipping it to the borders to pick it up… I'm just freaking out since its my first time buying from them.. I've heard nothing but good things about tischer on this forum though so I'm not doubting him, just was afraid I might've fallen victim to internet fraud lool..

I have ordered from them before and they never asked for anything like that. Soon after I ordered though, someone stole my CC information. I am not blaming them, but maybe they had some fraud and they are handling things differently now. I would call them. I usually deal with Jason...or send them a PM here. Seems strange but you never know. better safe than sorry.

In fact, I am about to order more stuff from them this weekend...maybe I will call them Monday. haha

They're a BMW dealership (used to be called Tischer BMW but are now called BMW of Silver Spring). No need to worry...

They won't ask for that information unless you ship to somewhere other than the billing address, and even then, only the first time you order. They won't ask for that information again on subsequent orders.

Thanks...yeah they are a good place to order. I trust them, plus it's AMEX...they take care of me. I have had my card # stolen 4 times in 4 years...never had a problem. it is good to be a member!

Thanks a lot for all the replies guys! Calmed me down quite a bit hahaha.. Now another question. You think since the order is still in the processing phase, they wouldn't mind me removing an item from my order? The order included injectors but since I just found out my problem is not injector related, I no longer need them... You guys think it would be too late?

Yeah I emailed Jason, hopefully its not too late... Anyways even if they do decide to ship it, it's normal maintenance... And since the car has been showing signs of dying injectors as well as the fact that I have the outdated injectors, not that big of an issue:P.. But to have that money for mods instead would make me a bit happier looool..

Thanks again for your order. I apologize for the late reply, but it looks like your emails were sent Friday afternoon and I had to leave early Friday for doctor's appointment. So, I didn't actually get to your message until this morning (since we're closed on weekends).

My apologies for the somewhat late reply, but the order has been approved and will be shipping out with UPS today. You can expect an order completion email w/ tracking # shortly.

Thanks again!

Edit: I just saw that you wanted to removed the injectors from the order. If that's the case, no problem - just reply back to my email from this morning and I'll get it taken care of.

Tischer is great! Bought a few things from them with no hickups. Only thing I'm a little peeved about, I was looking to order shifter and ebrake set and on their site. there were 2 prices for the same thing (one was cheaper). I pm'd them asking what the difference was then about an hour later I get a message back saying that it was the same and forgot to change price and switched it to the higher price. So by me asking what the difference was, it basically allowed them to catch a mistake and I missed out on the lower price. lol. I still think I should be able to get it for the lower price since I did you a favor.

I cannot say enough good things about them. They have put up with my incessant questions and order changes with the utmost patience and have perfected my order every single time.

The moment I have had any issues with a past/present order, Jason has always helped take care of it immediately and put my mind at ease.

I have found them to be the best source of parts thus far on these forums.
