Help Amplifying stock Underseat Subs (e93)
Hey guys, I'm interested in amplifying the stock underseat subs in my e93 with an aftermarket amp. Just a little confused when shopping for an amp --
First - Are the stock underseats set up in 2 ohm or 4 ohm? Also curious what you guys think is the most power (watts rms) I can push to them And last but not least, if any of you have already done this set-up - What Amp would you recommend.... Thanks, and hope this isn't a repetitive topic - But I couldn't find much searching. |

I don't recommend amping the stock woofers. I recommend replacing them.

They will give you some bass with more power but they are muddy. You will want replace them pretty quickly. |

Well if they were in the audio build thread I wouldn't.
I guess some of them are but they are spread out. And for the newbys its a wealth of info . If they bother to study it. |

Including your OEM system in your thread will determine the level and detail of help that you will receive...

I hear you guys. I Only considered amping the underseats because now that ive done what i wanted to thw cars audio i kind of miss the feeling of bass from under the seat vs my trunk sub.
My current setup has a trunk sub with stock power to the underseats. So in theory i wanted to bring that feel or slight thump back from under the seats without adding tooo much additional bass to my 1000rms trunk sub. |

If it helps, I have the Hk system in an e92. The under seat woofers are 8 inch 4 ohm. I power them with a 100 w RMS x 2 amp high passed at 63 Hz. Tapped with Technik harness. 60 Hz down goes to the trunk sub.

Doubt you'll be happy with that.

Depends what you want. With a couple of amps and a sub you can improve the HK system nicely. I am older now so I am not looking for the db's I was 25 years ago, just good sounding tunes. And the HK system limits the upgrading significantly unless you're willing to spend $$$. On my e46 it was a piece of cake: a set of Morels up front, an ID sub, a couple of amps and an audio control matrix and you had superb music. But with the e92 it's not as simple. If $$$ is no object, of course upgrading the under seat subs is ideal, but amping them is not that bad. Turning off Logic, fading full front, adjusting the eq to get rid of the peaks, and balancing for what you are listening to yields very good sound with the amped woofers and a sub.

A couple stereo iterations ago I had the stock L7 underseats running off an ARC mini amp, didnt push them very hard and used them only for midbass as I have a trunk sub, it worked pretty well.
Eventually went to Jenherts, still only doing midbass, but I of course can push them harder and they sound great. |
