Nothing to do with diesel, but you don't see many of these quad-tipped Passat W8s on the road.

I always liked those cars. Especially the wagons. For some reason, they never took off. Perhaps bad MPG and high pricing. The resale value is poor. You can get a decent W8 sedan for around 6K.

the w8's also have a tendency to implode every 60k? miles. something about the mesh screens in the cam adjusters clog up. Not sure if it ever was recalled/fixed other than running short OCI with vw 502.00? oil
