Top tier oil. My n54 runs smooth and it does not burn through 300v unlike the x-cess.

Really? Your n54 burns through Xcess? I was about to get XCess for my n54 on amazon but also thought the 300V wasn't worth it.
OP, I think the prices of 300V all come down to shipping costs. Some places have it for a few dollars cheaper per 2 liters or whatever but from what I've seen, those places charge like $20+ for shipping also.

Yup, with x-cess I lost about 1/8- 1/4 every 1.5 months. We live in 37'c climates and I drive spirited once in awhile. The worst I've encountered is this rocketboy x pro oil, utter rubbish. (Trusted crappy shops in Hong Kong). Car burnt through half in a month, car ran rough and I didn't even wait to get it out. Went to a shell and bought some 5w40 and got it replaced.

Hm you got me worried now since this is my first time running this oil. I'm going to check my oil more often now. I'll keep everyone updated.

Wow, that's some expensive oil.

If you guys want true synethnic oil, this is proven to be a good match for BMW turbo engines.

Good stuff, but it's not in the same class as Motul 300V, which is a 100% ester "true synthetic" oil.

Motul 300V is simply the best oil you could buy. It's in a league of its own

I thought Castrol 06244 is a class IV oil, meaning full synthetic from PAO/esters.

I am just not sure about putting what is labelled as racing oil (Rally, GT, Short distance race) in a car that is daily driven. See motul's pdf: https://www.motul.com/system/product...pdf?1329125425

I use Xcess, change every 5k miles or so, and the level indicator doesn't even drop between changes. Before I fixed my OFHG...now that was a different story.

We have it. We can try to price match if you find it cheaper.

Yes, but I"m pretty sure that 300V is Group V -- a non-PAO, 100% ester synthetic.

Anyone that post in this thread stating another oil is better than another please produce lab results.

@ OP thanks for the heads up. Burning oil too fact is very important along with other thing. If possible after about 6k Miles send a sample to blackstone labs to see how the oil is doing in your car.

Thanks

I always take things said on the internet with a grain of salt. But this seems to be some legit information.

http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums...&Number=199768

"1 100% ester: very unstable, incompatible for most seals. 100% ester lubricants will have to be drained
from the engine every few hours. Reserved for applications when their polarity is so necessary than their
inconvenience will be dealt with. For two-stroke applications, where the engine oil is mixed with the gas and
must burn, the instability of esters is a good thing. It is not the case for four-stroke applications.
"

I'm another 8100 X- cess user. Make sure to get the BMW LL-01 approved variety without the cleaners.

I know the 300V is double ester based as noted above. Is the 8100 X-Cess also ester base? I think Cloud9 makes a good point about these ester oils not being compatible with the seals and I would like to stay away from them as I will be using this oil for a 7,500 interval or so.
