Painted side reflectors flake?

My dealer gave me a spare set of amber side reflectors. I brought them to a local body shop to have them painted and they said automotive paint would just flake off of the plastic. Any truth to this? If so, what did you use to paint yours?

(Please spare the "Order replacement reflectors pre-painted from xyz Inc" comments)

Hmmm...as long as they are prepped correctly the paint should adhere just fine. We haven't had any flaking issues with ours and I don't think I've heard of any problems with other brands.

No difference than the painted bumpers... Go to a different body shop that knows what they are doing. Like mentioned, if prepped properly, it will adhere w/ no issues.

You can't reuse them, a spare set is required. The DIY guide can be found by doing a search.

You can just purchase them prepainted from us (E92 Painted Reflectors). Here is a DIY for you: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39382
