I found that within the last year of the original warranty the manufacturer starts sending out notices to purchase extended warranties for less then the dealer offers them at the time of purchase...so I am just going to wait and see what they offer. This is my first Bimmer so I don't know if it works the same.

Seeing what I had to pay repair wise for my 97 E36 M3 the extended warranty price isn't bad....but I'd hoped to do better. I'm gonna pick my car up in a week, so I have a little time to work the finance guy on it.
1250? which dealer sideshow?

For Bay Area folk, I was just quoted $2592 for an 8 year, 120k warranty from GE at Peter Pan in San Mateo.

Covers one replacement of the nav/gps/sat radio (one each) if it comes to it. I guess the BMW one does not. Covers repairs to covered systems even when those systems are damaged by non-covered systems ... something the BMW one does not, apparently.

Anyone have experience with 3rd party extended warranties? GE isn't exactly some podunk outfit, but still ... who knows.

This is a pretty good dealer for an additional 50k, but not for only 2 years additional coverage unless you drive the hell out of your car....

3/5 Series (E46,E39), X3'S and Z's - BMW Maintenance

BMW Maintenance extends your existing BMW Maintenance Plan from 4 Years from original in service date or 50,000 Miles to 6 Years from original in service date or 100,000 Miles (whichever comes first).

Orig. Price: $1,795.00
Sale Price: $1,345.00 After your car has 50k...you will definitely spend more than this over the next 50k miles for brakes, oil changes, rotors and etc at BMW prices...

Maint costs:

Standard Scope(performed @ every maint service) - $60.08

Oil/Filter - $174.75

Air Filter - $41.50

Spark Plug - $374.60

Brake Fluid - $114.60

Antifreeze - $127.07

R/R Brake Pads & Rotors (front and back) - $1,240.96

Wirer Blades - $88.45

* All this performed just once - $2,308.89

I think I am going to sign up for this just prior to the 50K mile mark. I'm at 43
K miles now.

Anyone else?

BTW - Dealer indicated the maint. service contract is extending by 50k miles

or 2 years (which ever comes first).

Hi, this may be a stupid question, say if I buy the extended Maintenance or warranty from twinkidneygrill.com, then will I be able to go to any BMW dealer for service/repair? How would they (BMW dealer) know that I have the extended coverage?

Thanks.

I researched this recently. The BMW extended is like the CPO warranty and does not cover the convertible top, IDrive etc. I purchased the 7 year 100,000 warranty from AAA Autoguard. I attached copies of both so you can read them yourselves and come to your own conclusions.

I paid $2800 for the diamond plan with the luxury electronics option 7Yeat 100,000 mile.
This was for a 2007 335I E93.
I believe the price went up Dec. 1.

This is the rep I dealt with:
