Yea....they are dragging arse on accepting/processing my docs.....for a couple months now.......sent them in before the settlement was finalized in Nov.......

I like VW's but having owned several of them anything related to VWoA pretty much is guaranteed to be a complete fucking debaucle

Didnt they just come to some sort of agreement today on that engine?

Sounded like the same compensation as the 2.0's

More fragmented than the 2.0 settlement. VW claims they can fix the 2013 and newer 3.0's. VW will buy back all 2012 and older 3.0's now - no fix for them.

If they can't get CARB and EPA to sign off on a fix, they'll eventually have to offer a buy back on all 85,000 3.0's however.

I'll still get 'don't sue us' money - and any fix will come with significant extended warranty on power train components/exhaust parts. Formal announcement is expected tomorrow on the details.

Funny how this is still going on. I wonder who else is doing this and just hasn't gotten caught yet.

what a stupid idea...he's gonna wind up putting a lot of that shit back in so the dealer will accept, otherwise he'll get delays after delays until he finally sues and ends up LOSING money, rather than making money...

Judge warns VW owners not to strip diesel cars for buybacks

In an apparent reference to the Cincinnati man, he noted "one owner" who ripped out "almost every part" — even the air bags.

That "goes too far" and "they should not be engaging in deliberate parts stripping," Giuffra told the judge.

"I would echo that," Breyer responded. "Clearly the purpose of the agreement by Volkswagen was to accept these cars in the condition that they were in as they were being driven on the road, and not to strip the cars."

Addressing VW owners, he said, "A word of caution is appropriate at the time."

Jonathan Cohen, an attorney for the Federal Trade Commission, said the agency is "absolutely against bad-faith behavior by consumers" but also noted that VW cannot reject buybacks based on "the vehicle's superficial condition."

That is, normal wear and tear is acceptable.

Breyer said he would consider taking official action to address the matter if necessary at a later date.
Good news is the guy probably has some extra holiday time to put it all back together. I hope he kept everything and remembers how to do it as I find taking things apart far more difficult than putting them back together.

It's like Lego's, shouldn't take him but an hour or two to piece it all back together.

I have some experience with my previous GTIs and an Audi A3 and wouldn't be able to put the front bumper cover, rear bumper cover, grill, both fenders, hood, rear hatch, 4 doors (with electrical disconnected), rear carpet, seats, radio, trim pieces, air bag, air vents, center console from top center to behind shifter, etc. in 2 hours. Also going to take help from someone else for a bunch of the body parts and doors.

Then he gets to reschedule his return date.

It was mostly sarcasm. The tear down is always 100x easier than the rebuild.

I can pretty much guarantee that care did NOT go into their removal and as such they will probably not go back together very easily/nicely

This guy was a moron
