i talked to a dealer about that module and he said they could get it and he was ready to order it, he said he prolly has it in his warehouse but..... go here..... http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...42&hg=61&fg=25
#3 is that module, its the same part number that dankim had on his chip but....there are different combinations of like whether u have an alarm, foglamps, and so forth (if you read down about the part u understand what im sayin). So our "footwell module" right now obviously says "xenons-no" and we need it to say yes. why do we need a whole different part if they've all got the same part number?????? |

ya. the bad thing is that most dealers have no clue how to do this anyways so their no help, nevertheless ive been told by a few that they refuse to give me any help with the information i need because BMW doesnt suggest this be done, but that was definitely the part that dankim used, same PN# and everything. the guy who told me he had them in his warehouse wanted me to buy it but said asked me nothing about whether my car has alarm or xenons or anything like that, i figured why not get a used one from a car that had xenons so i called bavarian auto recycling and they said they dont get the E90 modules, whys that?? if they get the car, which they do get every once in a while, they should get the freakin module

otherwise that sounds fishy... Ive just recieved some pretty upsetting news as well on this... The chips are not available overseas for me! this is what i was told! >>>> You will need this item: 6987-999 >>>> It is a new revision with a increased price. >>>> The box has to be remapped anyway at the dealer.

he asked me for the last 5 digits of my vin and he said he had trouble pulling it up, then i told him i was doin the conversion and he said thats why he had trouble but anyways, if you read the .pdf file (which is for a german retrofit made by BMW, cars must have headlight washing system) it says after you put in the footwell module the "retrofit kit requires coding and to encode it with SSS (software service station) via the CIP path", i dont know what that means but to me it means i cant just put in the footwell module at my house and expect it to work. but the retrofit seems easy just a lot of wiring, i dont know about that other part on there called "light control" labeled H, it doesnt come with the kit just like the footwell module. and i think the footwell module just as it is named seems to be located under the pedals somewhere. it says to replace light control with light control and footwell module with footwell module, so in order not to get those errors we may need both those parts

yeah thats from the dealer, i think when i decide to pull the trigger im gonna go to him and do it, i mean, whats the worst that can happen? if it doesnt work i just put the old one in and deal with the error message. i dunno what im gonna do yet, once i get some lights then ill figure it out, someone said they could order the german retrofit kit for like $1800, which isnt bad i guess since its a kit and all instructions are included, but then i still gotta go buy a $300 footwell module, and a light control as it says in the .pdf file. plus i dont have the headlight washer system, but who really knows????

I think your on the right track bud for sure..Get the lights and keep your halogens in a safe place and u can always put them back in when u sell it or what not so there is no error messages! The halogens still work even though u modded the wiring harness so if all goes BAD put the halogens back in!

I forgot to tell you guys.
When I tried to order the xenon headlight, the local shop guy asked for my vin number. The reason was that if he got the vin number, he could know what parts need for installation. I thought it was kinda weird.

anyhow on another note ive come across some notes: There is another method to make the error message not appear. Is to put a resistance of 20w. Xenon lamps are 35w , halogen are 55 w. If you put a 20w resistance + xenon lamps 35w , the car computer think there is an halogen lamp instead a xenon. I' ve seen this tip in a Italian Bmw forum. http://bmwpassion.dnsalias.org/viewtopic.php?t=25234 Im in the process of translating it for u guys Im curious as well! ok the translated link thanks to MACOSX, WIdgets: http://64.233.179.104/translate_c?la...hp%3Ft%3D25234

I don't have washer system.
I thought I had ot have this washer system in order to install xenon, but the dealer said I don't need to have it. I assumed they know how to modifiy the kit? That's why it is called retrofit kit?

Actually, conceptmotorsports introduced me the recommended bmw dealer because this dealer used to install xenon headlight kit before. First time, they installed xenon headlight for the first customer, the customer car got error message so they had to remap the ECU and solved the problem. They told me this story when I visited them.
I got information from them that if we swap halogen to xenon, because changing the module(control unit), the system must be restarted otherwise the system won't recognize and gives an error message. For people who already have xenon and replace to euro version headlight, they already have the xenon module chip, so it is just plug and play and don't give any error message. Hopefully, my comments will help you guys!
