Thanks for your comments. But how about commenting on the main topic of this thread? What is the danger of the downpipe failing with an Xede unit? |

FWIW, OEs are ultra cautious/conservative when it comes to downpipe/cat longevity since they are emissions related items. Any premature failure will cost the manufacturer gobs of money since emissions law will force them to replace them on every single car, of that model, that they manufactured. Even those without a manifested problem. It's pretty much the most expensive type of recall that any company can be faced with. my 2c, shiv |

Can someone do the math here? If the 335i turbos are giving 0.6 bar boost at sea level and can put in 0.8 bar boost at altitude:
Will the pressure seen by the engine at 5280 feet be exactly the same as at sea level? |

Turbos will have to work harder to make up for the drop in atmospheric pressure. |

cracking???? what because the boost is raised a couple of pounds did u guys ever think since shivs got the ar more inline the egt will actually be lower??
take a look at my vette's top mount set up... i was told that the exhuast wrap would roit out my headers in no time, well i removed wrap and it was perfect. that was after 8k miles. also with the wrap the exhuast hold much more heat, to the point were the exposed areas are cherry red. well to that end, no cracks, granted bmw down pipe and my headers are two different animals but i truly wouldnt wary about it!
