might be way off here but was thinking if you put a aftermarket ssk on your car and something went wrong with the tranny or even as far as engine could they blame it on the ssk and not warrant?

I can't imagine they would contest a non BMW SSK as a cause for transmission issues. The shift action is the same, no?

I also have the UUC SSK and BMW Perf knob and have loved it since install about a year ago.

Can't compare to the BMW SSK though as I've never driven that one.

I read on another thread that you was going to do a review of the UUC SSK, did you do one?

Also did you do the install yourself or did a professional did it for you?

The reason I am asking, is that I should be getting mine next week, and from what I hear you have to drop the tranny to install it? Is this true?

Anyone who thinks the BMW OEM performance short shifter is teh bomz should go try an aftermarket unit like a UUC or B&M. Really. Night and day difference.

does the bmw ssk have the ability to raise and lower the shift knob? I think this is a good investment but I want the ssk to be able to lower and raise.

Haven't had time to do a proper review yet, with all the other modifications I've been doing lately (only last week Quaife LSD and M3 suspension parts). Will do so though, once I have some time on my hands.

I didn't install it myself as I don't have any mechanical skills. My garage in Germany (Daum Motorsport) did that for me. I think for the SSK itself you don't need to drop the transmission, there's also a DIY in the relevant section of this forum. However, if you take the DSSR as well things become more complicated and then I think you may have to drop the transmission. As I haven't done it myself I can't be 100% sure though.

Thanks bro!

I do plan on doing the DSSR so I think I will get a good garage to do it.

Thanks again!
