hey

i went will bell insurance in the end, was cheapest by far

i had been driving company cars for the last 7 years, with no claims, bloody good as i was doing 30K year

i left my last company 14 months ago and didnt get a car, as i was working and living in london.

just got a car, and my no claims is gone, as i have not driven for a year, and didnt get a letter within 6 months of leaving stating my no claims...

long and short of it, not driving for a year lost my 10 years no claims and has cost me £400...

beware

wtf? That sounds properly wrong mate. The quote I had from them was around the £1600 mark and I'm a couple of years younger than you, only had my license for about 4.5 years and only 3 years NCB.

Baggy, your postcode must be REALLY high risk or something??? What do you do for a living, that can jack it up sometimes.

no my post code is on of best, i checked, the issue is i have no no claims due to the company insurance cock up.

i checked what my insurance would be with 5 + no claims and it was just shy of 600.

i all i was saying was, if you leave a company insurance, get a letter from them in 6 months of leaving, or you lose your no claims

Ah I see.

Regarding the 6 months thing, I think you have to take out insurance within 6 months of cancelling/coming off a previous policy. Say you sell your car and cancel the insurance with some NCB, if you dont buy and insure yourself on another car within 6 months that's when you lose your NCB....at least that's what I always thought.

i'm with elephant...touch wood...haven't had to claim ....but they're ok...

I would avoid all these underwriters or brokers or whatever third party companies....

another opportunity to pass the bucket if u hav to claim....

and they're just loads of telesales marketing stuff!...loads of legal claim solicitors contacting u etc etc....
