Right now we are going to see how far we can push the factory fuel system. Then we are installing AEM's new trick water/methanol injection system.
CP-E is still working with the factory pump to try and source the cause for failure and thus improve it. Considering as of this morning I went through another pump (now on three) this is of top priority to us as well. Eric |

It's ridiculous how hit or miss the pump situation is... i'm at 31k very hard driven miles and haven't had any issues. Yet you've gone through 3.
how did BMW get this so very wrong |

The HPFP from the 335d has to operate a fuel rail under much greater pressure (~2400psi vs 1600psi). I'd imagine that it is more robust accordingly.

AMS: looking forward to your update
335d pump: keep in mind that the pump is designed for diesel fuel, it may not have seals compatible with gas and alcohol (10% at most pumps in PA). If anyone has the specs on the pump, you'll want to look for fluoroelastomer seals (e.g., Viton) versus silicone or nitrile (even hydrogenated). On a side note, I get 90% of my gas from a station that does not sell alcohol-blended gas -- besides offering more energy (e.g., mileage) for the same money, I think it puts less stress on the HPFP seals (swelling at high load). No HPFP issues yet (~20k hard miles).

wish I could get no-ethynol gas here but EVERY station has the 10% crap posted on the pumps. I use Shell V-Power and my pump failed out at around 10k miles.
I am almost considering just using Sunoco GTX (98 octane, no ethynol "not oxygenated") all the time since my car is not a daily driver. I use, on average, maybe 10 gallons every 2 weeks. I could just add a 5 gallon drum every week lol which costs about $50 a week for 5 gallons of gas. Sigh, I hate corn huggers. |

I try to use the Phillips 66, but the Citgo is easier to get to...otherwise I get Shell or Texaco, but they both have "up to 10% ethanol".

OT. I use BP/Amoco which at my location is the only 93 Oct fuel and it has no ethanol. Result: 30k with no HPFP problems. Qualifiers: (1) no tune, and (2) dealer replaced it as a precautionary measure even though it was working fine. My car fell into the high frequency of HPFP failure build date range.

Yeah, I know. But I just couldn't contain myself any longer... Phew.. Now thats over with I feel better. I've SERIOUSLY considered upgrading to a 335i since the first year however with all the fuel delivery issues I've been waiting for all the kinks to get worked out. Hopefully I'll get to see what the power capabilities of the slush box are with this kit you may be providing. Keep in mind, many of us myself included are not interested in running injection of any kind. In arizona, the best fuel you can easily aquire is 91oct. So for me, i'd have to be making the power while running 91 oct from the pump while driving in 90-100* weather. I've followed this thread from the beginning and what you're doing here, Eric, looks very good. Now since you've built the hype, lets see the pics!
