Me too. If nothing else it would save the price of the PROcede hardware. If Shiv could deliver a V3 tune via injector, that would save a lot of $.

talked with a tech today at my personal dealer and he said i should be careful about doing any kind of map changing and flash to my DME!! he said that bmw can find out if they wanted to and esp since there getting so strict with there DME's,m vodiing warrantys is nothing anymore!!
even tho i do like the idea and the way this will work for many, i guess this wont be the route i will be heading, i dont need bmw to find out i have been playing with the stuff in my DME directly and flashing it. i was gonna wait for the Shark injector instead, since im not a fan of the EDIT type tuners anyways putting there personal tunes on my car. but i guess, i will looking for a piggyback to work with in the near future. |

I still have my 00 1.8T (gonna sell it when I get my ABS module fixed). What did you do to yours? I had an AWE K04 setup. Fun little car to drive

Of course BMW is going to tell you they can detect everything. When I am talking to Jim this week, I will ask him about this as well. |

Yes of course.
I will contact Mr. Conforti tomorrow regarding this. Tuning an already turbo'd car is not rocket science when its in the right hands and CAN and WILL be 100% perfect with zero issues. I just need to discuss some details with him. Hopefully he responds. Building a car from the ground up with full proprietary electronics to run like stock and be 100% reliable requires a little more know how and, well knowledge is power --Malek

I guess I am also having trouble following conceptually (probably because I am either stupid or engine ignorant) how by flashing back to stock, the Shark Edit can cover up all the digital footprints, fingerprints, and DNA created by you're wild monkey wrench sex digitally created with the DME.
For instance, when your key fob is read, does it show that you've driven exactly the distance between your house and the dealership in the six months since your last service visit? Or do all the usual suspects like mileage store normally whilst the data logging of your monkey wrench sex is hidden/obscured from view? Perhaps it's akin to watching a large bank of security videos at a casino with most of them recording normal linear action and some (devoted to boost, A/F ratios, timing and their ilk) appear innocent but on closer inspection are playing in a looped fashion? In other words, what is erased by the shark edit when flashed back to stock? How is it erased? And what is the erased data replaced with - the data logging associated with a long leisurely Sunday drive by your Mother on stock settings perhaps? |

1. They dont know shit about the DME. 2. They dont know shit about the SharkEdit 3. Even if they would know and Jim is right (I'm likely to believe that), do U expect them to tell U "Oh yeah, we heard about that clever guy Jim who has finally broken into our new DME and is able to flash it back and forth w/o any evidence, so yes, U're cool with that, we won't find out"?

What I am curious about and I am sure we may never know is how he got the 64 bit password required to write to the flash banks, this is what makes the reflashing possible. A. |

You start tuning people's car as someone with little to no knowledge of turbo engines, maps, timing, etc., then you blow engines, then you will be sued. Not a good idea AW. This is not the idea of this type of tuning IMO. |
