Likewise. Hard loss. 17 years is a good long life for a dog, though.

Small Fishing Boats at Fisherman's Wharf by dcstep, on Flickr I think that I showed almost the same shot a few days ago, but I kept going back and trying again and again. I think this is the best of my series on these boats. Couldn't be the sun and calm water reflections. Dave

Sorry to read about Patches.
Dave that is a really nice one. Almost looks like a painting. I was amazed at how calm the water was this weekend, even out in the middle of the bay. Mark, I am very thankful for where I live for many reasons, the scenery and climate here being near the top. My only gripe is the astronomical cost of living |

Excellent colors Dave. Are you still around SF?

That's the reason we live here. Between decent pay and low(ish) cost of living, we'd have a hard time doing this well anywhere else.

The reflections on the boats in this last shot are perfect. I also like how the first boat is called Golden Gate. Nice shot, Dave.

I'm jealous! Major bucket list item for me that I still haven't seen in real life. Need to fix that!
Nice shot, IRide. |

A friend of mine took a six figure job in SF and isn't doing that much better financially than he was living here, where he owned a house and made considerably less. Still, he seems to enjoy the SF area, so the trade seems to have been worth it.
Love the boat shot, DC. That might be a good candidate for some retro processing or a B&W conversion. If you do, clone out the radar dome in the reflection. IRide, where was that taken? Certainly not in Arkansas.

My daughter makes strong six-figures and is able to save a little, but not much beyond her 401k, which isn't maxed out. Her car is 14-years old and she gets free lunches and free rides to work, four out of five days. She's in her mid-twenties and single, so life style is high on her list, along with career opportunity in her field, so it's hard to say that the decisions aren't correct. Her rent is outrageous, but to buy her little 700-square foot unit is over $700,000! She is smack in the middle of the city, so she's paying for that. Dave

Never had flood damage, hurricane damage, tornado damage, hail damage, weeks of rain, dig myself out of snow (let alone see it) and no earthquake damage.
I did have a pine tree fall on my car because of termites though. I'll take CA.
