Nice shots as usual Dave.
Full moon is tomorrow night around here. I hope Idont get as much clouds or haze as the last one so I can give it a shot; pun intended.

Looks pretty close to civilization. Your backyard?

That was at a nearby campground. I smeared a couple of human elements in the background, but I couldn't make it all go away without a serious Photoshop intervention.

As long as all we get is winds, I can handle the storm and the missed photo op. But the last one (Irene) made some serious damages to my house and to the yard. But for this one, I think/hope i'm ready.

Some high, thin clouds moved in this afternoon and evening and spoiled the full moon shots, but it did make for an eerie pre-Halloween pic.

I actually could have got a great shot tonight. Every now and then, you get a clear shot at the moon. But winds are about 95km/h right now; which is about 60mph. So clouds are moving so fast it pretty much impossible to snap.
I was still preparing my tripod to get outside when I saw a neighbour's patio chair fly over his yard to another neighbour's yard. That made me change my mind and I decided to stay inside. I dont mind a hardcore photoshoot, but it could have been a lot worse then getting shot (paintball). I prefer to wait for the next full moon then to get whacked by flying debris. I wouldnt be surprised if the power go out at anytime. If anything hits those cables; either debris or a tree; Houston we'll have a problem. Generator's ready for the essentials just in case tho. And I got food/water/batteries/gas for two weeks. Luckily, we only get the winds so far. No rain yet (knock on wood)

I was thinking that, too. Plenty of full moons to shoot. You even know ahead of time when they'll show up.

So I take it the building has another section you were in? Or were you hanging out in the breeze on that narrow ledge?

Red-tail hawk juvenile launches by dcstep, on Flickr Okay, maybe I should clone out that branch right above the head. I was so close that the 70-200mm was all that was needed.

Actually it is an outside area or balcony big enough for a few people to catch some air, have a smoke, etc. I walked to the very edge of it to get that perspective, but it wasn't a narrow ledge or anything |

nah, nothing major in my area. I'm in the Middle of THe Bronx and most of the damages are in Queens, Downtown Manhattan and Long Island. Only 1 tree down in my entier neighborhood. The Reader by Denn-Ice, on Flickr |
