As I commented on your Flickr site, awesome shot, DC. Very cool lighting.

I'm enjoying your UK adventures. Did you have family connections that led you to some of the sites, or was that mostly random sight seeing?

We chose that area (Northumberland and NE UK) specifically for the vast number of very cool sites. We have a book on Brit castles and the map of that area consists of many overlapping location pins. At one point we could see 3 castles or castle ruins from one spot. It's truly an amazing area to visit. We're planning on a return trip next year to spend more time in fewer areas. For instance, maybe 3 days on Holy Island just to soak in as much of the experience as possible. This trip we were limited to 3 hours on the island because of the tides that wash over the causeway.

I need to work on my B&W conversions. Just can't find settings I like.

Have you ever tried Silver Efex Pro? You can download and try it for free. I've been pretty happy with it, as its very customizable, or you can just let it do the driving with a bunch of presets.

That seems to be the Ferrari of B&W conversion apps. I'll have to give it a try.

Everybody, pay attention, this is how you shoot these big lenses. Leave the tripod in the trunk of the car. ;-)

Just Photoshop. I went with a duo-tone look, but I'm sort of meh about it.
