Yes I did. So I can actually get into Ista if I close the box without pressing the 'ok' button. In the setting this is what i see for the versions

install netframewrk 4.7.1 and 4.7.2
also try : Quote from anoter forum: "Ok I got it working. Here is how. I started the program and when I got the error I just hit ok. Then I clicked on the wrench icon in the program. From there I was able to select British English as my language. Once this was done I closed the program and reopened it. The error was gone. Now I just have to see if I can connect to the car" Last edited by Xidino123; 10-26-2019 at 05:55 AM.. |

Okay all is good now I've figured it out. There was a blank SQLiteDBs folder in rheingold. So it was like c:\ rheingold\ SQLiteDBs\ SQLiteDBs\ . I eliminated one of them and all is good now. I had tried changing those language settings to but mine were already set to EnGB. I just realized this is ista +. Do I have to go through the same process to have ista d and Ista p?
I want to thank CTUNA and XIDINO123 For all their support and knowledge. I think I'm a pro now at installing this software. Last night I went through ista software folder by folder trying to figure out what was wrong with my installation. Im about to do this all over again for a friend of mine. Hopefully this one will be a lot smoother. If so than I be available to assist others with questions about installation |

People do all kinds of voodoo things to get this installed.
I think the key points are Having a version of micorsoft 7 to 10 having enough disk space for this big program. Using a known to work download (I really think Bimmergeeks is the best one) Installing standard tools getttin it working first. Make sure you install the .ocx files correctly. Test it with Inpa functional jobs. For Ista D Install all the Microsoft C++ files from the update page. since we are not quite sure which ones we need best to have them all Update netframework better to have the highest version available to update the package.. Always use the Admin login for all the Installs. Win 10 power shell is the same as the command prompt in earlier versions of windows. Also when starting a Session with Ista D its a good idea to drop back to Inpa and run functional jobs to make sure the interface setting has not changed I have had that happen a few times . Usually its the latency that did not stay at 1 |

ViRTsg92 how did you determine that?
Did it reappear as OK once you put the FRM in? Keeps us updated on your progress and the path you take to revive the FRM and rest of car. Adds to the knowledge base. Thanks Last edited by ctuna; 10-29-2019 at 02:51 PM.. |

ista plus is just ista d capable of doing the newer cars F30 and onwards.
Bimmergeeks does not provide a link to it. Also be aware the Ista p is 4 times as large as Ista D about 200 gigs. Ista P should not be used without a large regulated power supply and a Icom cable. |

ista+ and ista D are the same thing from the point of view of using it on
a e90 for diagnostics. You will have to search the net for it if you can't find it here ista p . Ista p is potentially dangerous and you can do everything that it does with NCSExpert and the Standard tools suite. If you read that link supplied with the Ista/Inpa manuals it describes why it's a Pain. Niether ista D or ista plus is ista p https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...-P-actually-do https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sh...&postcount=268 Last edited by ctuna; 10-31-2019 at 02:36 AM.. |

So I've been workimg a so much I haven't had the time to work on the car but today I'm planning to replace the FRM. I've been searching online for the answer to the question but I can't find it do I Disconnect the battery before replacing the module. I know these modules are sensitive to voltage drops So it Concerns me that disconnecting the battery may damage the new FRM. What do I do ?

I think you are being overly paranoid.
Obviously you have to disconnect the battery for some things. And its usually a good precaution and it saves battery drain when working on these cars which is a problem when you work on them for awhile. You are plugging things into keyed connectors for the most part, so the chances of shorting something are small. Car electronics in general are designed to take fluctuations in a range and survive them. The FRM is no exception the place where it has a design weakness is in its programming especially with no power supply attached. Any type of programmable non volatile memory would have trouble programming at less than spec voltages and currents. |

Your right I am overly paranoid I don't like to damage anything. I'm a cellphone technician for 12 1/2nYears and believe me you learn to be cautious
One wrong move and your paying for someone's $1300 iphone. Hasn't happened to me yet because I don't try to work on things that I don't know much about Coding and programming of bmws I know zero about. I thank you for sharing your knowledge with me CTUNA you've been great and really taken a lot of time to assist a stranger and you have me utmost respect. Whatever I end up doing here I will post the result of for sure. In fact right now I'm about to pull the old Frm out and I was curious before I do is there any data I need to collect. I know this thing has all the factory programming backups of every module for my car but I can't access the module so I can't obtain that as far as i know. Any data of screen shots of anything i need before pulling the old frm ?? |

Frmfa is frm1. With frm2 you can do angel eyes as daytime running lights. Change build date to 03/07 and code the frm to the car, no need to flash it with winkfp

Do you happen to know the options on the Car it came out of?
The only thing I think would be critical is the type of headlights. You should change the Vin number on it to match your car. You should get the stored VO's to match I would think. Your existing frm is toast so no data from there. You might try pulling out the copy of all the coding in the car as described in the coding tutorials to see if you can get a copy of the VO from the CAS. |
