Took a drive out to Pt. Reyes yesterday to escape the craziness surrounding the Golden State Warrior parade that started about a block from my office. Not much going on this time of year out there, but I did find this fellow obligingly posed on a fence post.

Very cool, DC. Momma doesn't look happy with you, though.

I went out to a new place where I heard there was an Osprey nest and hit the jackpot. I have never seen this behavior with them before, but there were at least 10 different birds orbiting around and making a lot of noise. I could only manage to get 6 in any one frame, but there were more. It was quite a sight to see and hear. I had to grab my camera with the 24-105 to get a wide enough shot to include more than one bird. This was at another abandoned navy base right along San Pablo bay, butting right up against the Chevron Refinery in Richmond California. I also got a few hundred close ups of the different birds with my 7DII.

Thank you, sir. Yup, the Smithsonian stop after hitting up some of the monuments on my way back to my hotel.

Managed to make a stop on my way back to DCA.

Thanks.

That's after she made about 8 trips. I think she was used to me by then.

No chance of a summer solstice sunset here. The weather has again been wet and miserable.
So here's a sunset from Easter.
This is Lossiemouth West Beach, looking west towards Inverness, just moments after the sun had gone down.

Great shot. The afterglow is best. Spectacular things happen.

Here's one of my favorites from last year, looking toward 14,000+ foot Mt. Evans:

There is less man-made clutter along the bay where I found this other osprey nest. Still, the behavior is the same. Mama stays home while papa goes out for food and home improvement materiel

This one might appeal to Ed. Looking on Flickr, I notice you have lots of great railway shots.

87002_Royal Sovereign by Alan Butterfield, on Flickr

Class 87 loco 87002, built at Crewe in 1973 and named 'Royal Sovereign' in 1978.
The loco is now owned by The AC Locomotive Group.
Seen here at Edinburgh Waverley, looking resplendent after a recent repaint.

LoL. I'm always up for interesting train pics. It's interesting how the same basic technology looks so vastly different between the continents.

Most of your shots are diesel/electric where this one looks 100% electric. Our electrics from that era weren't all too different, but there is a certain styling cue to the UK rail cars.

Speaking of trains, I spent Sunday along the Feather River. One of my favorite areas of the state.
