If that is the case why do the paint manufacturers keep creating these type of colors? I don't think that is it. It's like everything certain colors look good on certain cars..this one I think looks good. Secondly isn't this a second iteration of graphite with BMW? So they create various versions. For that matter isn't one of the blues also gone now? The blue and graphite were used in advertising.

Some colors will always be black, white, silver and red. Then you have the various versions of other colors that get added to the line up...

The variation on graphite is now called mojave which has a greenish hue and the blues have not changed for the coupe and sedan: monaco and montego are still being offered.

Hmmm...mojave sounds pretty nice then..I'll have to look that up.

I think the color shifting is cool.

I'll check the BMW website but, I was pretty sure some variation of blue was not available. Maybe I have it mixed up with the M3 and 335...Anyway..I don't give graphite is now mojave that it means no one wanted it. It just is one of those colors that vary..unlike the basic 4 colors.

The only new blue is Le Mans Blue. It is by far the nicest blue BMW offers. Black sapphire, apline white, and Le Mans Blue equals beautiful and stunning.

Oh I'm not unhappy with my purchase by any stretch The car is great--fun to drive, refined (compared to my STI and G35) and looks great.

I started up the process giving myself 2 options for color, silver or grey so that I would have more flexibility when making the deal. Both colors did and do look good.

However, I really dig the SG. Too bad it's discontinued.

Sorry, just keep getting annoyed every time i see that. nothing against you as a person, just your choice of putting on a euro plate sucks in my opinion.

+1

I don't get it either...

NO REGRET

sparkling g has different color flecks; space only has grey. the eggplant hue only rears its head occasionally. clean and with the right sun, sparkling looks fantastic!! frequently, it looks like liquid metal. the only better color is jerez black--n/a for 335.

not a great/accurate pic color wise, but here's mine

look at sflgators pics--they're great.

How anyone can be unhappy with SG is beyond me.

I love my SG! Best colour there is and the different colour variations is what i love about it too! One of the most agressive colours!

I notice that my SG sometimes looks brownish, sometimes purpleish, and sometimes really good. If I were to do it again, I would've gone with Black Saphire Metallic.

They may be grey, but they're not GRAPHITE, and definitely not BMW.

I have the best of all worlds. I have a black MB E350 4Matic that plows through the snow and drifts with the Audis....for all those black tie formal affairs....and the Quaife-equipped Sparkling Graphite 335i for dry and wet pavement drifting in the summer.

It's a great shade of grey, and I chose it because it was not black.

My wife has the black MB E350, my daughter had a black Honda Civic sedan and coupe, and now has a black Honda Pilot, and my son had a black Acura TL (he traded it in for an AW e90 335i, so there is now some contrast).

At one time, our driveway looked like a funeral parlor or limousine service with all of those black cars, so I decided to get the Sparkling Graphite, which to me, is the classiest color BMW offered...not too Alpine White...not too Jerez Black....juuuuust right....stealthy....understated...elegant....easi ly blends into the background among other cars when the State troopers are looking...verrrrrry, very German, especially when you look back at WWII German uniforms, armor, and cars....yet, still aggressive.

Red, black, and silver really pop against a sparkling graphite background..... you can see all of the automotive styling creases and lines better on sparkling graphite (and red highlights look sooooo good with it (read: Brembo brakes and coral interior)) than black or white IMO, but that's because I am a bit biased towards dark (but not too dark), stealthy, classy (and classic), sedans that don't SCREAM for attention.

Everyone seems to have a black or white car in my area. I choose to have a (now classic) Sparkling Graphite beauty.

HELL NO! I have NO regrets whatsoever choosing Sparkling Graphite!

This is a pretty old thread. Anyways, I've had my car 2.5 years and love the color. I custom ordered it and had to wait 6 weeks for it, so I had the choice of any color combo I wanted.

I prefer the look of space gray to sparkling graphite-I thought the latter was a bit too dark.

Well, I just think it doesn't do the car justice. White is too effeminate on a 3 series, space gray is not bad, but seems dull and black sapphire metallic is the next closest thing you want to a dark gray. I have had the car for twenty months and think it has ruined the car. Nothing beats black sapphire metallic on saddle brown leather in the 3 coupe IMO

Opinions are like assholes. Everyone has one and they all stink.
Color preference is highly subjective.
