You're in an unique situation because your high octane pump gas is like our race fuel. Which is why the Procede raises boost and drops IC. Which is great. In fact, you'll notice that it wants to raise boost higher but is limited by the maximum boost value of 16psi (it displays 15.8 due to a internal rounding error). You can certainly raise max allowable boost higher and let the Procede make things more aggressive. But you may want to keep the boost limit at 16psi since you don't have any exhaust modifications. The car must feel great!

Hi Shiv,

ok, I understand that the quality of the gas is the reason for my high settings.

The cars feels great , even though the convertible weights a whole lot more than the coupe or 135i. So far I didn't even got a close match on the Autobahn. It is the power at the bottom revs that kills almost every "normal" car on german streets.

As I wrote, I will have 3" catless downpipes installed this week (although they are not at all allowed in Germany). A Bastuck quad exhaust will follow pretty soon. The main cats I have to leave stock (German TÜV!).

What maximum boost setting would you suggest with those modifications?

Are there any fundamental differences between map 1 and map 2 if you make the user adjustable settings identical?

Just curious if there are different settings behind the scenes between the two maps...

I live in Germany, too, and I am experiencing the same thing: ignition correction always staying at 0%.

Sorry, it's been a while ...

Well, no mods, stock. And no, I did not try going beyond 16 psi.

Now with firmware #29 and map1, things have changed:

IC=79 !!! Boost: 12.2 !!! Aggr. Level 1.7 Fuel 98 ROZ

What has happened ?? Anyone with similar findings ? Suggestions?

I found the best Procede settings I had was:

1) Uninstall it.
2) Go to GIAC dealer, get flash.


I kid...

I ran it in autotune and left it that way for the trial period.

Hi trader2005!

That is not nomal, I run the same Firmware and my car always stays at IC 0% @ 15.8 psi boost autotuned. I raised the maximum limit just a little bit to 16.5 and it immediately autotuned itself to 16.4 psi with 0% correction. With German 98 ROZ we could go even higher. I think the limiting factor is the exhaust though. I already installed catless downpipes and ordered a bastuck catback exhaust. Will see how that works then. You should do some logging to check where the problem is.

By the way, I love the tune. I tried several alternatives already and it's definitely the best so far! It's very safe, smooth and controllable. I always have a blast trying out the neat new features when installing new Firmware and Maps .

Hi Atekk,

Many thanks for your reply. Your findings sound encouraging. I will do some more testing.

I do have the latest BMW software on my DME (its 38. something, July 2010). They called me in for an update. Would you know your dme software version / date?

OK, did some 3rd gear pulls last night, here are the results:

IC (Debug Byte 2): 0
Boost (Debug Byte 5): 14.4
Agr.Lev. (Debug Byte 6): 2.0


Firmware: #29 (Autotune)
Fuel: Aral 102 ROZ
Temp.: 7 degr. Celc.
Car: all stock, no mods apart from the Procede

That thing (Procede) delivers!

Shiv, one question on this:

Euro pump headlines quote RON number, vs. US pump headlines quote (RON+MON):2
European Super Plus 98 has RON 98 and MON 88, that gives RON+MON/2=93

This would mean that 93 Oct. US Pumpgas is just equal to Euro Super Plus 98?

Quality of gas and cold temperatures? i boost with upped turbos 16 psi with 0 ignition correction on 99 Shell with 5C out .
USA has pretty crappy gas.

In Europe you best chance is with the Shell V-power Racing ( not the standard V-power, the Racing +) Its stated as 99 RON - 100 RON in Denmark and the UK and alot of European countries. Also BP ultimate is in the same RON area.

Frank, did you ever figure out what was the problem? because your next test results shows a lower Autotune boost at 14.4 with higher octane Aral 102 ROZ?

to answer your question: my car ist build 5/2008 and has never gotten any firmware updates. So it must be 29.2 or something. I wonder why they called you in for an update. Did you arrange an installation date already? Please post your impressions afterwards!

I think, your boost is way to low. Did you leave the max at 16 psi? How come you didn't autotune to 15.8 psi as my car does?

when a car gets to dealer from lease end. The dealer CPO'd the car and I bought it. When they CPO the car do they update the firmware?

Hi Stefan,

they called my car in for an update, which was supposed to prevent HPFP failure (that's what they say). It was actually called a "product recall" with lots of vehicles called in (did not get an appointment for 2 weeks, for they had to do so many cars).

My impressions after the update (I think it's 38. something) are very positive, better response, better idling (as Shiv has experienced with his 135i), no issues with the Procede. Plus no HPFP failure so far. Can only recommend it.

I am quite happy with the type of boost I am getting right now (14.4), considering I have no catless dps. It may even increase, if I did some more WOTs. Main issue was the bad IC, which has now gone down back to zero, so its fine again.

Thanks for your number, will give you a call, when I finished my explorations concerning dps.

Hi Frank,

yes, I forgot that you are completely stock.

Since my firmware is so old, maybe I should get it updated, too. As far as the hpfp is concerned it's too late for me! Mine failed just 3 weeks ago . Now I got the newest version #933, I hope it'll last longer!
