Well, mine is sitting on the floor of my shop. Time to move the FD out and rack the BMW. Just have to order wrenches first. If I recall, my shipping box says 98lbs. for those interested.

That's the thread I was looking for. I'd seen it once before, but couldn't locate it. So, the nut is 50mm for sure? Looking around the forums (all of e90post) I've seen 50, 52, and 55 listed. What about axle bolts, etc. Where did you guys get those. All of my VW stuff is TTY and one use bolts. I imagine this car is the same way. Has anybody swapped to M3 diff bushings? Any noticeable changes?

I bought the wrench listed in that link off eBay, worked great. Didn't replace any bolts, but I think its recommended to do the axle to carrier bolts. I just installed the white line poly diff bushings and so far they seem good. I had already do the rear subframe with them and liked the results. Currently I'm getting a tiny bit more "harmonic"'noise in the cabin, but nothing too bad. Car does feel more solid at wide open throttle.

I could see that handy for a manual 335i where a clutch dump could lead to wheel-hop/etc, however on an auto 335d I don't see it as helpful *shrug*

I added the Solid Delrin Race bushings and you can easily hear the whine in the cabin. Just ask TorqueAddict.

Interesting, i am not going to the track, but was thinking about LSD from "winter driving" point of view.

Definitely i have got good winter tires, but was thinking that having locking diff will help even more?

I've installed a ton of wavetrac diffs in vw/audi's and 2 so far on bmw's. They act like a normal torsen when both sides are loaded, but when only one side is loaded they will lock up. A normal torsen will free wheel when one side comes unloaded (one tire on ice, one tire on pavement). My customers love them and I have 2 of them in my personal vehicles. As I'm a dealer for them, my D will get one at some point. I'm planning on having traction issues in the future .

You ship them your whole pumpkin just like Mfactory and they ship it back with the ring gear cut off, machined, and lsd installed in your housing setup and ready to do. Soooo, no real pictures to show of the process other than R&R.

Woops, I misunderstood. I didn't pick up on literally meaning DIY in terms of the machining process. For 99.99% of people out there, an LSD install in welded ring gear bmw isn't something you do on your own. As seen in that thread, the cost of equipment (and cost if you screw it up) is far greater than the cost to pay Wavetrac/Autotech or Mfactory do it for you. I'll be doing my own machine work to install mine as that's what I do for a living, but yeah...not for the faint of heart haha.

After getting the Stage 2 tune and delete, the car seems to need an LSD (that is what I am saying to convince myself to spend the money). Honestly, the traction control light and lose of power upon acceleration is starting to aggravate me.

So which LSD are most of the Ds running - Quaife, Wavetrac or Mfactory? Are there other options? Anybody have reasoning that should sway me one way or the other?

I'm running the M Factory, been happy so far. Also utilizing their solid differential bushings.
