Yeah, Shiv went back & forth on whether to implement a digital boost readout or hijack the fuel gauge. I guess we're the only 2 people who would rather have a digital one.

I think the main reason he didn't do it that way was because it wasn't very responsive. There's a video somewhere on this forum showing the original implementation using the digital readout of the fuel conditions.

These new 7-14 maps offer the properly calibrated wideband readings that are important to the next update that has leanrun protection enabled. Other than that, they are exact same as the 6-16 maps. Shiv |

Everyone is entitled to do things the way they think is best. We've been doing that for years. Which is why we pioneered the "unnecessarily complex" CAN integration approach back in 2008. We knew we were on to something big. And we knew that others would eventually follow. Frankly, I'm surprised it took this long for others to jump on the bandwagon. Shiv |

Thanks for explaining making the max psi setting non-adjustable. Now that I've tried it out, I fully understand why you've set it up for 20 psi only. The new gauge works great!
Are you planning to add some way to check water temperature too? I'd love to be able to monitor it without my laptop.

From what little I know about patents, it doesn't matter who came out with something first, but rather who filed the patent first who is the winner. So if two companies are simultaneously working on the same thing, it's whoever has filed the patent first that would come out ahead. No?
So to enforce their patent, if Vishnu is theoretically infringing on CPE's, then they'd have to take him to court I take it? If they take legal action, will that mean Shiv will take this feature out of the firmware til that's resolved? Better get this firmware while you can! |

Plus I believe if you can prove you had prior, your in the clear.
My coworker from my old job told me they had a patent dispute with another competitor, and they had to dig back all the design documents and source codes to prove that they were doing what they were being sued for before the patent was even granted. Not an expert in law, someone more qualified should comment |

The boost in dash gauge is a real nice feature. I'm now using the boost gauge in the CMGS to display flow instead, a clear win-win solution to me The wife just loaned the car, hope she believes it is out of fuel and makes a good fill-up
The AFR presentation in logs is also a very good feature. |

I just got myself a free boost gage! This is very cool, waited a long time for it but worth it. I also just checked out the cp-e speedo boost gage video. But wouldn't you want to know your speed and boost at the same time? Vishnu is the way to go. It will be nice to toggle between fuel and boost gage when that is released, if anything just for peace of mind. Shiv you are on top of your game. Thanks.

http://www.howstuffworks.com/patent.htm the first sentence there says: "When inventors come up with a new device, the first thing they want to do is patent it." Then it goes on to say Patents are basically copyrights for inventions, defined by U.S. patent law as "any new and useful process, machine, manufacture, or composition of matter, or any new and useful improvement thereof." Unlike copyrights, patents protect the idea or design of the invention, rather than the tangible form of the invention itself. To patent an invention, you have to meet a number of requirements. First of all, the invention must be sufficiently novel. That is, it must be substantially unlike anything that is already patented, has already been on the market or has been written about in a publication. In fact, you can't even patent your own invention if it has been on the market or discussed in publications for more than a year. Which to me seems to be the same thing as what I was saying and that you have to get your patent in as quickly as you can if you want to rely on it, and once you've got it given the hurdles, it's very valuable. The entire patenting process can take anywhere from a year to five years. So it would be very interesting if CPE in fact already has their patent... |

Ok guys... back on topic. But fwiw, we have plenty of proof that we have been working on this for a very long time. As many of you know. My guess is that cpe just want to prove that they weren't copying us. Which is fine. It's not like there many different ways to get dash control to work. It's part of the BMW diagnostic tool.

Wouldn't peak boost recall be better displayed digital. Why not have it display in the multimedia screen and the boost in the fuel gauge.
I'm curious if Shiv mentioned the idea of an IN-DASH boost to the public first and then others followed suit. Nothing wrong with it, but from what I've been following, Shiv has been preaching it since I gotten my Procede last year.
