I'd debadge because I think
1: the numbers stand out way too much on the back of the car
2: the dual exhausts show what it is, anyway
3: i'd love to see the look on some pedal-pushers face when he confuses my car for an n/a 3 and tries to get funny.

Man, it sure looks like you struck a nerve with the non-335 bunch.

I loved my 325 as much as I love my 335, with badges. Some of you guys are making a way big deal about this, more so then this stupid mod is worth.

And I’m calling BS on the whole “I don’t care what anyone thinks” line. If that was the case you would only spend money on performance mods instead of stuff like angel eyes, big rims, and BOVs.

If you like the way it looks- DO IT.

I debadged my 335i for no reason other than it looks a lot cleaner from the rear, and I like the look. It has nothing to do with other people's M3s, 328i, 325i, 330is.

My sense self-worth does not plummet every time I see a Gallardo or an M5. I think people are getting hung up on the wrong thing here.

I used to live in San Luis Obispo, and there was this black 318i that had been debadged and then REBADGED with an M3 logo. It was so easy to tell it was a poseur, it was ridiculous. My girlfriend summed it up best: "People who don't know what an M3 is doesn't care that his car says M3 on it. People who DO know what an M3 is wouldn't be fooled for a second-- so he's not impressing anyone, he's just making a fool out of himself."

I don't debadge for YOU. I debadged for ME.

That is why people debadge a 335i-- because they don't care what you think about their cars or what kind of engine it has in it. I don't care if people think I'm driving a Honda-- *I* sure as hell know what my car is capable of, and if you knew what to look for, so would you. If you don't, then what do I care what you think anyway?

I am addressing this at no one in particular, just explaining the mentality-- or at least MY mentality for having debadged my 335i.

Re: the people who think they are tricking others into not realizing they have a 335 (assuming versus a 328). That doesn't make a dang bit of sense, unless you are a BMW enthusiast people are very unlikely to know the difference. That honda driver, or mustang guy on the street didn't just say "zomg, that I thought that was just a 328". He might have thought "3 series bmw"... If you debadge, do it for the looks, not to try and trick people.

My plan is to take a bunch of sandpaper to my car, add some oil to the gas tank (smoke), get some bald tires and a coat hanger antenna, then people will think it's old. They will be so surprised when I tell them it's actually a brand new premium auto. "Ha, tricked you SOB, I actually drive a nice car! Hahaha"

Also, what's with the hate towards the 328 guys? Some don't want the power, some can't afford it, paying an extra 5 grand doesn't make you superior. (btw, I'm ordering a 335i in the next week or so, I do need the power )

I think subtlety conveys a message of refinement, sophistication, and mystery. Those in the know already know. Those that don’t, don’t. As they say...If you have to ask…

I think anyone with a BMW drives a damn nice car. As soon as you have a BMW do you suddenly forget all the crap you rolled before this? Every time I see an old VW, or a big Ford panel van, or a Honda Civic, I fondly remember loving those cars passionatly until they were replaced (or died). Stop the hate'n. Even people with Ferraris and GT3's want something else.

Go ahead, debadge, rebadge, and misbadge. To each their own.

In the words of President Roosevelt, “Speak quietly and carry a big stick.”

And yes, I have a big stick.

If you have a 328, ur car sucks??? So if a 328 is modded to perform better than a 335, the car is sick???....or maybe not sick because its still a 328???...im confused. A BMW is, in fact, a BMW. The basic principles are the same; clean lines, impeccable safety, nimble handling, rigid body structure, even weight distribution, shitty electronics/wiring, its inherent in every car they make. the 335i has a ridiculous, insane, surreal torque curve, big deal (ok fine it is a big deal). Im fortunate enough to be able to pay a little extra for the power, but if you drive a 328, you certainly are not UNFORTUNATE. Oh yeah, getting back to the point of this thread, im gonna debadge my 335i for a cleaner look.

I drive a 320D and there us no way on earth I feel unfortunate - It would be nice to have a 335D or 335i but I still drive a nice car!!!! To re-iterate a point I already made, If I had a 335 I WOULD debadge.

The car mods I make are for myself and I could care less what other people think (about me or my car). I debaged to get a cleaner look... plus the car is MUCH more aerodynamic without those numbers sticking out.
