I traded my 135i for the 335d when our first baby was on the way... because I needed 4 doors.
However, so far I've only had the baby seat installed for one trip (last fall). ![]() That's what my wife's Ford Edge is for (which is an awesome baby hauler-- and way more interior room than an X5). My advice, bring a baby seat to the dealer and test how well it fits. Ideally it should be in the middle, but most cars including BMW only put the LATCH connectors on the left/right side. We test drove the X5 and installed the baby seat behind the front passenger seat; I had to move the seat so far forward to make room for the rear-facing seat behind me, that my knees were hitting the dashboard. My impression with the X5 was that it's surprisingly cramped inside for such a big vehicle. It would be a great car to drive, especially with that diesel motor, but if I had 3 kids I'd have to look at something that actually has a usable 3rd row; that would have to be a full size SUV (MDX, Q7). Or you might just have to sell your soul and get a....... minivan.

the x5 35d has a louder engine than the 335d, and the diesel consumption goes up about 1 litre / 100 km but has a larger tank
and correct me if im wrong peeps, but the specs are the same its still 265 hp and 425 torque If you can part with the diesel noise it makes (with the windows down when accelerating), and the feel of driving a heavier car then go for it! (And a thicker feeling steering wheel) ![]() I'm not bashing the x5 its a great car to drive also! One more thing. never get a minivan. no matter what... you are not going to become a ballet daddy... (and dont let the wife become a soccer mommy) |
