Engine Fan

Now that the weather is getting hotter, i am noticing my engine fan come on quite frequent even when the A/C is off. The biggest thing I noticed is how loud it sounds and i swear it almost sounds like a jet plane coming down the street, think something is wrong?

might just be the heat... but might be the water pump. i wouldn't worry about it unless you get warnings

Telltale signs of a waterpump failure. Same thing happened to me before mine went.

I have heard this is could be a sign of thermostat or water pump. Could be something as simple as a o2 senor however. Id go in to indy shop and just get it checked out. Reason being is that if it is water pump, better to get that fixed then to be stranded on the side of the road.
But I live in Waterloo ON and I know it has been crazy hot. Mine has turned on also and is loud. But I was stationary for a bit so I know the fan kicked in to get air flowing.
Keep us updated!
Mike

Have your car checked, it's a sign that the waterpump is failing.
I had this happen to me very often even when I first start the car...

Reading the hidden codes on the ECU is the only way to tell.

My car always does this on hot days. Sounds like it's going to explode.

These last couple of days has been alot cooler and i even turned off the PBX just to make sure theres nothing setting it off. It was LOOOUUUD! I can literally hear it inside my car over the radio at times when the window is popped open abit!

I'm bringing it in tomorrow to get it checked for either Thermostat / Water Pump / O2 Sensor based on the suggestions so far so we'll see how it goes!

If you're getting a loud fan when the car is hot (hot day sitting in traffic) then it's normal. If it's loud right when you cold start the car, then there's a problem. Either way, get the car scanned at a place that has something to scan BMW specific codes.

Well seems like i'm overreacting because doesnt seem to be any problems! No codes , everything is normal, coolant temperatures and all that extra stuff was checked.
I will just drive it until it falls off instead of doing preventative measures which will be expensive!

When it starts its normal but after possibly 5mins of driving it's loud as balls!

I guess the jet engine is part of having a fast looking 328? lol
