I love my 335d. I have had almost no issues with mine. Bought it at 45k, drive 20k miles so far. Once drove from Dallas to Denver and got 40mpg (cruise control set at 100+ mph sustained for long periods of time). Turns on a dime, laser sharp steering. Comfy. The lack of modding ability is why I will eventually trade it for a 335i or m3, but in the meantime, I love this car.

True. High-end cars aren't synonyms of reliability and low maintenance.

First of all, I have had 4 M3's so know the BMW brand well.
I have been driving a VW Jetta TDI for 1 yr as I recently sold the M3. But this Jetta while it gets great gas mileage, I keep smelling diesel exhaust in the cabin( I had a 11' and 12' Jetta TDI and both had this issue)...my kids are complaining about it all the time. I am ready to pull the trigger on the 335D but want to make sure it doesnt have the exhuast smell in the cabin issue. Any thoughts? |

![]() Morning starts under cold weather also bring very mild smell. But it vanishes in less than a minute once the catalitic converter raises its temp a bit and def fluid comes in. Absolutely no diesel in the cabin. By the way the air recirculation button on the steering is a very nice feature. It cleans the cabin air of any smell very quickly. Kids farts included ![]()

My wife (who hated my old car for smelling like...is there a word for the fuelly, combustionny, firey smell of catless?) once stated that my d's exhaust smells nice. When it was really new, it smelled like candy--typically you would be able to read that as me being facetious, but no, really...candy...seriously...I mean it...someone verify for me here...

Smelly Diesels
I know what a smelly (and noisy and slow) diesel smells like since I owned an '86 Jetta non-turbo. But I loved it anyway. But the 335d is none of those, and I love it too.

I have loved every minute of my d. Great fuel mileage, fun to drive, runs clean and with no smells.

test drove the 335D today...M sport version and regular one also.
1. this engine is awesome!...love the torque...feels faster than the e36, e46 and e92 M3 I have had...even if it truly isnt faster, it feels like it is(0-60). 2. night and day difference between the sport version and non-sport...the sport version has a awesome solid feel...no "lightness" feel like the non-sport version...seriously doesnt feel all that much different to the M3(stock version anyway). After driving the sport version I cant get myself to buy non-sport one due to the seats, ride quality, steering feel, no body roll. I have driven a 335i loaner and wasnt impressed at all...felt like the 135i was a much better car...but this 335D sport is a unreal value imho. |

I just had to add my $0.02 to this...this is the first car I've owned, where a really nasty fart (makes you gip) can be eradicated in seconds. It's amazing. Seriously.
